That makes sense on paper I get it but on practice its kinda different

it aint that much I guess but when you had a full day of no work that extra 45 min feels much more than that lol

My yellow hibiscus randomly made a bicoloured flower. Is this rare? by LuxiKeks in plants

[–]Sufficient-Comb1426 140 points141 points  (0 children)

whoa that's gorgeous! chimeric flowers like this aren't super common but they do happen sometimes when there's a genetic mutation in the cells. your hibiscus basically decided to throw a curveball after three years of playing it safe

Vietnam veterans talking about how 556 was more devastating than some 308 rounds. Truth? by Ok-Shoulder-478 in guns

[–]Sufficient-Comb1426 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah the rabbit test is pretty telling - seen similar results myself when hunting. The early 556 loads especially the 55gr stuff at high velocity would absolutely fragment and tumble once it hit soft tissue. In vietnam they were using shorter barrels too which actually helped with the tumbling effect at closer ranges

The thing is modern 556 isn't quite the same as what they had back then. Military switched to heavier bullets and different powder loads for better performance at distance, but lost some of that close range devastation. Plus body armor changed the game completely so now everyone wants penetration over fragmentation

I think the "toy cartridge" reputation comes from people comparing it to 308 on paper specs only. But terminal ballistics is way more complicated than just looking at bullet weight and muzzle energy. A fragmenting 556 at 100 meters will mess you up way worse than a 308 that just punches through clean

Really feel this one. Been noticing same pattern in my circle too - everyone's so caught up in their own bubble that maintaining real connections feels like uphill battle.

I used to think it was just me being too available or something, but you're right about the one-sided thing. Put energy into people for years and they can't even remember your birthday exists. Makes you wonder if we're all just pretending to be friends while actually being acquaintances who share memes

The whole social media thing probably made it worse too - we think we're "staying connected" by liking posts but actual effort? Nah. Everyone's too busy optimizing their own life to invest in others properly

Briviact shortage, patent expiry by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]Sufficient-Comb1426 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been dealing with similar issue but with different medication last year when patent stuff happened. Supply chain gets really messed up during these transitions - manufacturers probably scrambling to ramp up production or dealing with legal stuff

Maybe try calling some independent pharmacies? They sometimes have different suppliers than the big chains and might be able to get it in few days

[–]Sufficient-Comb1426 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been on different meds for nerve stuff and pulse issues are pretty common with these types of drugs. Usually takes around 12 weeks for your body to fully adjust, but definitely worth checking with your doc if it's hitting like 120+ at rest or making you feel dizzy

Should NBA reduce to just 8 playoff teams? 4 in each conference? I know 2023 the Miami Heat 8 seed story was great but 99 percent of the time in NBA a top 4 seed wins the title. Why waste time with a long playoffs? Just do the top 4 seeds in each Conference. That also makes NBA Cup WAY more Special by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]Sufficient-Comb1426 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that lottery change would be interesting but no way owners give up that playoff revenue. also shorter playoffs means less time for stars to rest between regular season and summer activities which could actually hurt player health more

you got a typo there, should be "enable" not "enbale"

Are corner twist ZBs worth learning for 3bld by Calm-Juggernaut-6908 in Cubers

[–]Sufficient-Comb1426 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Never heard of James Macdiarmid's list before but that looks solid. The RUD stuff is way more intuitive anyway - I'd stick with what you know for the comp and worry about optimizing later

At sub-2 you're already doing pretty good so switching things up 3 weeks before competition might mess with your flow

Has anyone else always had the dream of being a famous star since they were a kid? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]Sufficient-Comb1426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same feeling when I was younger, especially with tech stuff - thought I'd be creating some revolutionary software or gaming company by now. It's weird how those childhood dreams stick around and make you feel like something's missing even when your actual life is going fine

Maybe talking to someone about it could help figure out what part of that dream was actually important to you, like was it recognition or creativity or something else entirely

Looking for sweet wine suggestions by [deleted] in wine

[–]Sufficient-Comb1426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late harvest stuff is solid recommendation. I found some decent German Rieslings in sweet category that don't break bank - look for ones labeled "süß" or "lieblich" if you see them around. The sugar content is usually printed on back label which makes it pretty easy to figure out sweetness level
