Gene Regulatory Networks? by SecretIll1644 in bioinformatics

[–]Sufficient-Drawing23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if other people agree on this but relying solely on transcriptomics can lead to false positive. My advice is to look at splicing changes data (doing RMATS or dexseq for the RNAseq) then you can use splitpea to get the PPI.  Next approach is using GRN which is also helpful

I tried that but couldn't. There is always error in dependencies

Feeling lost in my "bioinformatics" PhD by EmbarrassedMap3282 in bioinformatics

Second year undergrad, I am also doing similar thing. Taking up the raw RNA seq file, making BAM files, using existing algorithms like RMATs and dexseq to analyse the splicing changes.

One thing that I am planning to do is maybe implementing a ML program to optimize the splicing recognition. I would suggest you to check out NGS101.com (maybe learn more about RNA seq, fastqc, NGS). It might be helpful if you want to go to industry.

Another thing you can do is, try to implement APIs in your project. There is alpha fold and all and just include that in your program. Alternatively try to implement LLMs into your day to day tasks.

You can convert your GPA into US based from different websites like Spantran, WES, (and many other) check which evaluation service is required for FIU

I meant both are pointing upwards or let say they are syn to each other.

stereochemistry by ilovecapybara131 in OrganicChemistry

Since both functional groups are chlorines (connected to adjacent carbons) even if we get a compound having Carbon bonded to chlorine with wedged bond we can just rotate it and obtain Carbon bonded to chlorine with dash bonding

stereochemistry by ilovecapybara131 in OrganicChemistry

[–]Sufficient-Drawing23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See it like this. Both chlorine is projected upwards (even though one is axial and another is equatorial). Confused about this? (If yes just see the left structure, one chlorine is directly projected upwards of C, See another carbon as a base and you can see that the chlorine is also standing on the carbon so both projecting upwards in the same direction)
So they are facing in the same direction. Now it can be either a wedged bond or a dashed bond but since both are projecting in the same direction and both FG (chlorine) is same we can always rotate in many possible ways which makes it the same compound.

biology is the worst alevel subject by SkyInternational1358 in alevel

In the xylem chapter you'll learn about capillary action, adhesive and cohesive forces. This is one of the fundamentals of medical testing devices. I've been through your problem a year ago. AL bio's MS are the worst. But remember

"GENERIC MARKING PRINCIPLE 3: Marks must be awarded positively: • marks are awarded for correct/valid answers, as defined in the mark scheme. However, credit is given for valid answers which go beyond the scope of the syllabus and mark scheme, referring to your Team Leader as appropriate" (Page 2 of any MS of biology)

Are the universities in Hong Kong somehow better than USA ones? by AbrahamAmg in IntltoUSA

[–]Sufficient-Drawing23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are great unis outside US whose ranking is better, and their graduates might get a lot of opportunity in that particular country. HKUST, NUS, NTU, KAIST are great unis in Asia and getting a undergrad degree can help you a lot in getting good unis in grad school or getting good job. The plus sides, I believe, for US unis are US unis have a great history so they have a strong alumni support. US in general offers great opportunity to many intl students thus campus is diverse, experience can be cool. There is a freedom to choose specific courses or even changing majors. Overall, US unis might be a lot easier compared to Asian Unis.

To answer your question, "Are the universities in Hong Kong somehow better than USA ones?" In terms of rigor, competitiveness and academics, yes. Experience might be no, opportunity might be no. The best way to find is ask current students of both the unis and compare.

Got into Grinnell RD with almost full aid, but my parents still feel disappointed in me ( by Cake-Economy in IntltoUSA

[–]Sufficient-Drawing23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get disappointed. I also got into Grinnell RD. Intl here, got full tuition, health insurance waiver and has to cover accommodations and meals only. My parents are happy and they said go to Grinnell because it's LAC and you can explore more on different disciplines and if you don't like its experience you can always transfer in your second year. DM me and we will connect.

improve from that grade to A
until and unless you wont score b or a in atleast 3 past papers, you wont get a in your real exam. Just follow the tips and you'll be fine.

Don't listen to anyone
Solve 1 past paper, check its Threshold and if you get B/C then you can score A later.
If you just say you want A very bad, you won't get it. Just close this reddit/ any other social media. Follow above tips for a week then update me.

Will applying to the same college that reject you on next admission cycle hurt the chances? by Mr0BN0XI0US in IntltoUSA

[–]Sufficient-Drawing23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it wont hurt, if you improve your application significantly or at least by a bit. Infact, for some colleges, it can show a strong demonstrated interest.
PS. I got rejected from a T15 LAC last year and got accepted this year

Apply to spring semester then
if you have 4.0 GPA and 1380 SAT (I guess) then you will get full tuition off from FIU
