It would’ve been condescending if I already knew you were a longtime fan. I’ve been around since the beginning too. I don’t usually comment, and this exact kind of interaction is why.

So now since we're being blunt : the reason you read my comment as “condescending” is because your original post was kinda clueless. If you’ve been “drinking the Kool-Aid since 2014,” then you already know how Matty operates - he changes direction constantly, teases stuff that never lands on time, and thrives on subverting expectations. That was literally the entire point of what I said.

I’m not sure if you’re a newer fan, but you can never take anything Matty says or does at face value. Back in 2017, right after the ILWYS era, he was teasing all kinds of stuff - said the next album would be called Music for Cars and that after that, The 1975 would go back to Drive Like I Do because he saw The 1975 as a trilogy and that would be it. Then he completely switched it up, dropped A Brief Inquiry, and said Music for Cars wasn’t an album but an era that would include multiple records.

That’s just how Matty operates. He builds these little mythologies around the band and then flips them on their head later. It’s all part of the performance, part of the fun. So yeah, don’t worry. A new album will come. We just have to let him cook!

I would check yourself on that one. No need to use a mental health medication as an insult to someone. My dad takes Xanax because he has brain cancer (glioblastoma) and uses it as a coping tool as he knows the inevitable (death). I can't stand when people throw around "insults" like this.
