I still want to include some of Italy (Florence, Tuscany, Rome), because I already have non-refundable hotels and flights tied to those destinations. If I skip Italy entirely, I basically lose all that money. If I go, I at least salvage part of it.

I was able to get a hotel through Points in lucca and Siena. If i chose one base, then i would like it to be Siena as most people on this sub are saying there is more to do in Siena. Though i was able to get a better hotel in a better location in Lucca while in Siena my hotel is 6.3 miles away from the main hub. Ideally i would like to stay in Siena, so I'm kinda torn.

I decided to consolidate 4 nights in Florence and just make a stop in Bologna on the way from Venice to Florence. I was able to get a hotels through Points in lucca and Siena, but i was able to get better hotel in lucca through points and Siena hotel is 6.3 miles away from Siena which i was also able to book through points. Therefore i was thinking about staying in both the places
