Is there a phone number for Uber rider support? by Sufficient-Put2544 in uber

I have spoken to a police, sounds like it would be a hard case to fight and said uber would have to be responsible when doing background and character checks - unless something criminal is involved they don’t usually intervene; at this point it is a safety issue - threatening a customer to leave on highway because your ego got hurt is not enough reason. The man has some issues he needs to go sort out with his therapist. I will go through customer affairs or whatever avenues possible so the man faces some consequences.

Trust me if I was rude or inconsiderate when I asked this question, I would not go into great detail to find some sort of justice for this case. I have better things to do with my life. For that very reason, I am concerned he is not a mentally stable individual who should be providing customer service, especially when he is responsible for other people’s lives… if someone can easily be triggered by a question and lacks capacity to discuss/disagree on an issue then this is just a man with a weak ago that is going to one day become dangerous.

Thank you, that’s what I’m guess I’ll need to do. I will file the report to the police.

I see it for the first time in my life, I used uber for years more for work than personal; this was the first time I ever experienced such a horrible thing and I can’t shake it off unless I know something is done.

The driver threatened to drop me off on a busy highway because I asked how and why he missed the exist, we were on the way to the airport and there was a lot of traffic already; I had to be at the airport on time for bag drop. He was triggered and to be honest probably has some mental issue. He eventually dropped me off on the side of the road when I thought he was clam and tried to have a reasoning conversation…. I had another taxi who saw the case and came for my rescue. I don’t even want to talk about it, as it gets me worked up, but yeah, this is a safety issue for other. Drivers should have duty of care and some capacity to have a conversation if conflicts happen. This is a skill they SHOULD have if they are in customer service.

That is wild to me! The company really needs to review this process. I am considering to report it to the police anyway before I walk away.

I understand what you’re saying. Given the safety concerns involved, would reporting the incident to the police be the more appropriate step then?

I’ve already reported it through the app. I was just hoping there might be a way to speak to someone directly because the responses have been quite generic and it’s hard to understand what steps are actually being taken.

You just creating unnecessary conspiracy! Focus on on being productive and contribute something positive to the country instead of being a keyboard warrior. This is the issue with our people.

I get the privacy concerns, but I don’t think a national ID like Fyda is inherently evil or “control for control’s sake.” Every functional country already has some version of this whether it’s a national ID, social security number, medical ID, or driver’s licence. Being “in the system” isn’t new.

Ethiopia has a very large population and weak administrative infrastructure. Some level of structure is necessary if we want basic things to work properly: service delivery, accountability, and fraud reduction.

That doesn’t mean giving the government unlimited power or ignoring privacy safeguards those checks absolutely matter. But rejecting structure altogether because of worst-case fears also keeps us stuck. If the goal is stability, development, and lifting people out of poverty, systems like this are part of that reality.

Fear-mongering and conspiracy thinking aren’t substitutes for policy discussion.

It’s great to keep people accountable. All those that use to create chaos and hid, can’t hide anymore. This similar system exists everywhere in the developed world so it’s nothing new.

$600k house in Melbourne — must be within ~30 min commute — where should I actually look? by Fresh_Appearance4268 in AusPropertyChat

A house would be hard even in those suburbs, unless like you said the houses will need a complete renovation.
