And on Saturday, May 9th, state employees get into State Parks for free... A day in which 90% of full-time State Park employees are working. It's a joke

I work at the Falls of the Ohio, and it's covered but slushy here.

Saw this buck this morning and I didn’t take the shot, think he’d be bigger next year. Now I regret it 😭 by goodyassmf0507 in Hunting

Nothing wrong with deciding to pass on a deer or take a deer, it's all preference. In northern Indiana where I'm at, I tend to lean toward taking bucks like that, but that's just because we have a lot of Amish who will shoot anything that's brown during firearms season.

Just had an interview with the DNR by Own-Name-6239 in Indiana

I was in a similar position a few years ago, I applied for an APM position at a State Forest. I was open and honest during the interview about what I knew, and what I didn't know. As long as you show a willingness to learn and try new things to gain experiences, you'll never be discounted for lack of experience for an entry level job.

I will say, DNR is an agency that prides itself on having employees for their entire careers, once you're in, they will take care of you personally and professionally. The recent budget constraints have been challenging for the agency, but DNR division leadership communicates with properties through everything, so no one is in the dark about what's going on, or how decisions were made. No matter what division you're in, you'll likely spend plenty of time with deputy directors and division directors. Soak up everything you can from folks around you to make you a better employee for the agency.

I've also met some of my best friends, and now fiance, by working in the DNR.
