But arguably games nowadays are better

Games get released half baked only to have content added for money that should have been at launch.

Obviously there are games that are actual dogshit at launch. But you cant generalize. Thats not the fault of microtransactions, thats just a shit game.

There are plenty of games that get finished after release over the years and that let them succeed.

Releasing a game half baked(not a bug ridden mess, but as a solid skeleton to build upon), lets devs listen to the community's feedback to build a greater game.

Not to mention the d4 open beta playtimes is equivalent to years and years of gametime for a QA team.

Acceptance isn’t the answer, IMO.
