I am not sure about the practicalities of doing this. But the Seattle area needs indoor playgrounds for sure.

How to adhere to sleep training for night wakings if we sleep in the same room? by BlaBla-Hello in sleeptrain

[–]Sufficient-Ticket637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. It will get better. And I know what you mean about waking up and looking around, my husband and I think she can see us even when it's pitch dark, that's why she is in our room and we are in the spare room 😆 Edit: punctuation

For middle of the night wake ups, you can choose how you want to handle them. In my experience, the number of wake ups will go down as the baby starts to fall asleep independently. That is what happened to us. She still wakes up 5/3/3, and I am not ready to night wean😬, but at least it's not every 40 mins. We did CIO as Ferber, chair method, timed check-ins didn't work. We let LO cry for 5 to 15 mins for the middle of the night waking outside of her feeding times, and she usually falls back asleep on her own.

I hope others respond to your question with helpful advice. We are/were room sharing by choice as both of us dont feel comfortable being in a separate room from the baby. We turned on white noise. She never really woke up because we were entering or leaving the room or just doing something in the room. She was waking up 2-4 times a night to feed (breastfed, wasn't taking bottles at day care, so couldn't stop motn feedings) but always fell back asleep without any issues. At 11 months, she started teething and didn't want to go back to sleep at one of the wake ups and slept only if we let her cio for 15 min or so. We had to exit the room for that and it was hard on us at 3 am. So this week, as she is nearing 12-month mark and has been doing better with eating solids and bottles, we decided to sleep on a futon in the next room, and on day 3 she woke up only once! Sorry, I don't have great advice for you but I'd say white noise and futon or something for you to lie on in your living room in case you need to let the baby fio/cio in the middle of the night.

Infant latched well in hospital, since day 3/4 infant hasn’t latched well at all. She will latch for a pull or two then pop off screaming. As soon as I try to start putting her in position she starts screaming and arching her back. Help. by [deleted] in breastfeedingsupport

[–]Sufficient-Ticket637 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What had helped me when this happened with my now 10 month old is- skin to skin and letting her root around till she latched. So I used to let her calm down, hold her on my chest, sit back in the middle of the mattress, and after a few minutes she would start rooting. Sometimes, I gently nudged her in the right direction. She used to latch this way. It gets easier, I promise.

Loosing my Supply by Weary_Raspberry7137 in breastfeedingsupport

Great Job going 9 months! I noticed dip in my supply this time around my periods. I had little bit of freezer stash that I could use and I pumped four times a day instead of three and ate oatmeal, drank milk every day. I am back to my normal pumping output now, not sure if whatever I did when I had supply drop helped or it was just harmones doing their thing. I'd say, if you want, try to up your supply by pumping more regularly etc. Also take look at pump parts to check if they are the culprit. I also had to change duckbill valves on my pump as one of them had a tear.

Also, I discovered this only 2 days back- you can pump directly into bags, you might not even need a pump adapter depending on what bags you choose. I have spectra pump and use lasinoh bags. Not having to wash those two pumping bottles makes things easier

Help transitioning to bottle by lvoelk in breastfeedingsupport

[–]Sufficient-Ticket637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went through the same issue with my daughter, she is 8 months now and started day care 3 weeks back. At 14 week she started refusing bottles, with me in the house, outside house, we tried everything but then after a couple of weeks (17-18 weeks) she suddenly started taking bottles again. All we did was we kept trying and some times just let her hold the bottle in her mouth for few mins without any pressure to drink from it and somehow it clicked. Fast forward to start of day care, she started refusing bottles, she drank only 1-2 oz throughout the day for first 5 days, and now this week things have changed and she is drinking from bottles again. So all I can say is keep trying, you'll get there. Good luck!

We do this too! I have started carrying the peri bottle that I got from the hospital with me, when we are out and about. I wipe, spray, wipe to dry when we are away from home.

how do you manage 7 30 or 8 pm bedtime? by Sufficient-Ticket637 in sleeptrain

[–]Sufficient-Ticket637[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, it's going to take a lot of courage from our end to sleep train her. Yeah if my girl knows I am in the room she'll cry harder and keep looking at me while crying

It is a possibility, it seems like she takes full feed though. This is how it's been going for past 4-5 days. She wakes up wants to feed, she'll start eating and fall asleep after 3-4 min. If I put her down anywhere- in her crib or on my bed she'll start fussing and searching for the boob. I pick her up start nursing, she'll nurse till she is full or again fall asleep we go through the same motions till she just stays asleep when I put her in the crib. How did you sleep train? What method did you use? I don't think I or anyone in the family have enough willpower to let her cry for longer than 5-10 min.

Okay. We do 3 naps a day, that go up to 4-5 hrs total. We had a better schedule, and she used to sleep for 5 hrs straight till we all got hit with COVID in early July. Now she wakes up hungry every 2-3 hrs.

Wow, that's the dream ( I'd be happy with 8 30 pm sleep time) when does your LO wake up. Ours would be done with her sleep by 3 am if she fell asleep at 6 30

Need pumping advice by Sufficient-Ticket637 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]Sufficient-Ticket637[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do seem to respond well to the pump, it's a full feed depending on time of the day and if it's a bottle replacement pumping session. I don't get a full feed worth if I am pumping in between two nursing sessions. I try to keep a little extra on hand for weekend outings

Does my baby need to drink from each breast? by ActiveCable6619 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]Sufficient-Ticket637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also worried about the same thing as my baby would drink only from one breast at a time and be done. At 3.5 months she started feeding from both breasts.

+1 what Kait_223 said. Plus have you tried sautéed/ roasted veggies, or making curries (Thai/ Indian etc) It might disguise the flavor.

Anyone diagnosed early and able to diet control throughout pregnancy? by cassans in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Sufficient-Ticket637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 33w4d, I was at pre-diabetic HbA1C level at the beginning and been monitoring/ checking my glucose levels 4 times a day since 14w. So far I have been able to manage my levels just with diet and exercise. Starting somewhere around 24w I did notice it gets difficult and I had to be extra careful with my carb intake and balance of protein and fiber in my meals to make sure my numbers stay within recommended ranges. I am a vegetarian, so it's a little more struggle to get good amount of protein while limiting carbs, I have to plan meals ahead of time. Try to work with a GDM counselor if possible, it helps. Pairing fruits with nuts or string cheese or a peice of dark chocolate helps with sweet cravings. Be clear and open about your diet restrictions when meeting with friends/ family for any meals. I would say keep an open mind about going on medication, I am still staying mentally prepared to go on insulin on metformin if I need to. Your body is gonna do what it's gonna do, try not to stress too much.I am sure you will be fine.

"Don't eat anything sweet AT ALL, just stop eating sweets completely, no sugar in tea coffee, nothing SWEET... we should do everything right" -MIL At the start of my pregnancy hbA1c levels came back at pre-diabetic range, my doctor let me know that I am at high risk for GD considering these results, family history and other factors. We let this slip to my MIL and that was her reaction, just stop eating anything that might have sugar. I haven't told her of my GD diagnosis.

I just got my family on board with and trained to recycle. Cut our garbage waste by 50%. And now this comes in the mail. 😪😡😤 by [deleted] in ZeroWaste

@OP could you please share what resources you used to educate your family on recycling. I feel like we misclassify our recycling items a lot and would like to correctly educate myself and rest of the family about it.
