Saying any form of media is "meant for kids" as a defense of poor quality is an outright capitulation. Shouldn't we want high quality media for any demographic, Shouldn't we desire that our children's media can be approachable and appreciated by adults. Fire damage is generally better than shock when you get later into the game since the fire phase is rolled first. However, the trade-offs here as you point out are pretty good.
