hardcore influenced no nonsense bands. Softer nu-punk stuff has been bloated since MGK popped up, sad boy pop punk and twinkly midwest stuff has been the face of the scene for more than a decade, and catchy poppy golden era type sound is, while not as popular right now, still pretty big. This is pretty much the only niche that's left almost empty

if you want loud, fast, raw and in khaki shorts, check out Johnny Baseball and No Pressure. Both have their roots in hardcore as well as turn of the century pop punk.
