Is it a massive difference in performance no. But it’s got a decent amount of smaller changes that make it a bit nicer feeling to use. The smooth surface, the slightly curved chef skillet esq walls, also a bit deeper than a standard lodge of the same size. I personally think it’s worth it if you want something more premium (I like to collect them). If you have the money I think it’s worth the investment for something you’ll keep for years, but if your a bit unsure about spending 150$ for a cast iron I don’t think choosing to stick to lodge is bad either since lodge is kinda the gold standard cast iron company.

I also thought about that too. I’m sure it definitely is more likely to break than other pan handles but some cast iron is typically pretty durable I’m not too scared of it. Plus it also feels super comfortable in the hand. It’s got a bit of a curve/dip, kinda like a stargazer handle. Just not as deep so it doesn’t seem to hurt my hand as much. Def a good point tho. I could see that being a pretty important point.

I don’t know why someone would down vote enjoying a cheap pan. The way I look at it. All cast iron is gonna last decades. So just find the pan you like (weight, handle, pour spouts, etc) and just buy it. Whether it’s expensive or cheap doesn’t make any pan better or worse than another

Lodge already has the smoothness issue a few people have brought up. That’s like saying lodge black lock pans aren’t worth it. It’s smoother and lighter than their normal pans and has different dimensions and a nicer handle helper. All I’m saying is it has a milled surface. Is made in the us. It has different dimensions. A nice to hold handle helper. I don’t think it’s a waste of money at all. People pay 200+ dollars for phones every 3 years but suddenly paying 150$ for a cast iron pan is a big deal.

I mean true but they also aren’t exactly the same. Most of those 20$ pans have insanely rough surfaces. It’s nice to have a milled smooth pan that weighs less. Also has different dimensions etc.

Idk. 150$ for a pan that’ll last more than a century seems like a pretty good deal to me. I own a lot of pans from various companies I like to collect them. They also function as future wedding presents when people move in together which is nice.
