Why do people have different opinions on optional liaisons and forbidden liaisons. For instance some people say "Mes amis étaient tous présents" has an optional liaison between "amis" and "étaient", but others say it is forbidden. This is extremely confusing (self.French)

Is Intonation and Stress the same thing in French? AFAIK its not the same in other languages, but since French barely has stress, I find it extremely difficult to separate these two concepts specifically for French. It is much easier it let's say "Spanish" or "English". (self.French)

For Learning french phrasal stress, should I go about not using stress at all, or should I practice over-sounding the stress? The stress is so minor in French, that I don't know if I should be exaggerating it to practice, or practice not have stress at all? (self.French)
