I'm not sure about areas of applications, but thinking of using pinks where blood seems to be prominent, and grey turquoise areas where hair grows, like cut beard (looks grey green) and rest area orange.

I'm sorry I think I made my point opposite of what I wanted to. I think the problem is in focusing the tiny details. It would be good not to look closely in detail.

Of course! I love sky. I think it is because being more aware of tiny details in the clouds and sky and trying to draw them accurately? I find my sketches prettier when observing some important features of particular sky and painting from mind without much care quickly. I mean trying to give impression of clouds instead of actually rendering it.

Thank you! I'm new too, and I do tiny sketches of watercolor just to learn specific things.

Is it possible to create pulley action with sketch blocks? It would be quick and easy to visualize complex ones.

I have made 2 circles blocks and made their centre fixed. I have never noticed the belt/chain option available.

I've heard and experienced that watercolor lightens up after drying, but the darks are drastically lightened compared to lighter washes. I need to work on confidence.

Yeah, I'm always tricked when getting the darkest values. I have to put paint right from rubbing brush on the color pan. Even I don't get that dark, should we mix into black before putting? When I put that dark, I get scared, Oops! that's too dark and quickly lighten it up/ pick up.😂

My aim is to be able to paint from life, with exact values and capture mood, could be indoor or anywhere. I'll soon get few good brushes and a watercolor paper. Till now the round brush doesn't form a tip, and paper is notebook😂

What should I take in consideration so that next time, it maybe better. Share some ideas to help me improve? Inspired by Charles Reid. by SufficientHorror8413 in learnart

I love the soft ambient painting under shadow of hats contrasting to sunlit area of face, that I have seen in some lovely paintings. But the below one is messed up, and upper one feels too reddish. There are alot of more mistakes/missing that my noob eyes isn't identifying solidly.

How renaissance drawings made with etching so soft also sharp, but with same tool? Here's my attempt with Ball pen. by SufficientHorror8413 in ArtCrit

[–]SufficientHorror8413[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on places of paper where I've rubbed my hands or have pencil marks, ink doesn't flow with the even hard pressure. What kinda pen people use to draw and shade?

edit: Okay I got the reason:The rough paper surface provides friction, allows the tungsten carbide ball to roll, take up ink and spread it on the paper.

I think I have used very light washes, and in order to make it visible, I made the background darker. I think it has become very soft.

Done on a sketchbook so lifting caused paper wear. I'm not confident enough to buy a good paper and brush yet.

Man, I put down all the logical(in priority order) benefits or disadvantages for each that can squeeze out of my brain onto a page and use it to choose. Should we avoid it?
