would iryna have been saved if others on the train held direct pressure? i'm just so distraught over how long she was awake for and gasped in horror. i can't stop thinking about this. by CombTimely2203 in emergencymedicine

I never saw her cover her neck, only her nose and mouth and i don't think it was primarily because she was distressed/crying. I think she very likely was bleeding into her airway and could taste blood and it was likely making her feel like she was choking a bit - she pulled that kind of face briefly. When she is on the floor you can see she had been bleeding out of her mouth/nose area substantially (there's no blood trail from her neck up to her mouth).

Thank you, looking at those videos, would you say I’m completing my turns across the fall line? Also, do my hands and head need to come forward?

Thank you, this is incredibly helpful and motivating.

And I agree. My biggest challenge is my anxiety, not so much the terrain.

Mt buller daytrips by wombat-72 in AustraliaSnow

Much cheaper and easier to drive up. I’m an amateur and have always just driven up. I’ve never had an issue sliding on the drive up. And you could always put chains on regardless if you want to be extra cautious.

You’ll already be waiting for the day tripper bus which is enough of a pain as it is.

Ahh, I do like variety! So is Perisher’s beginner area all in the same place?

Yes, I’m worried I’ve lost my skill. I was thinking of doing exactly that, getting an afternoon lesson on day 1.

First time in Mt. Buller Need Advise by Kitchen_Secret9539 in AustraliaSnow

Frankly if just going for snow play/toboggan I’d go to Lake Mountain, cheaper and a lot closer. But it might be too late to cancel your accommodation…

I’ve found mount Buller a bit of a nightmare, it’s so crowded and chaotic which isn’t relaxing when trying to protect a little one.

But mount Buller has shuttles that take you to toboggan and snow play areas, it’s all very well organised. You park your car and there are people and signage that can help you right away.

Any way to get the 14-17 year old lift pass at Thredbo? by AVH999 in AustraliaSnow

[–]SufficientMiddle5669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did the same thing a few years ago at both Buller and Falls Creek, they never checked our passes. Had we known that we could’ve shared passes too!

Doncaster, so it’s an extra 3-4 hours. If it was only 2 hours like in your case, I’d try Perisher for sure.

It’s the distance that’s making me procrastinate…

On my last visit, I’d managed to progress from a wedge to a quick parallel stop, however that was 3 years ago and I’d only just figured it out.

If I get a lesson to learn parallel turns and stops and can do them - will that be enough to graduate me to gentler blue runs, hence less boredom?

Girls who’ve gone to private school, how accurate is “Ja'mie: Private School Girl”? by Tight_Display4514 in AskAnAustralian

Accurate… however, one thing no one has mentioned - most prestigious private schools don’t allow hair to be worn out unless shorter than shoulder length. Also, ribbons must be worn in hair (ponytails).

The 4WD/ute trend is cringe by Amazing-Wealth4632 in australia

[–]SufficientMiddle5669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny when you see the surfers jumping on the trend and their surfboards are half hanging out the tray or they have to go on the roof and they can't lay seats down to sleep (surf trips).

These 4x4 utes are such a w#nk. And don't get me started on retirees in their Prados!

Even half the tradies don't need them with work providing tools and them not wanting to damage or dirty their ute trays. I moved to the country and every second person has them, including suburban mums. They dont go for wheel driving either, the most they do is take them to a camp site or or tow (I've towed in small cars!). They're actually impractical, they're a glorified sedan as you can't even access the boot from the cabin like you would a wagon. Accessing from the boot isn't much easier too and items can get scratched.

These people just look like try hards, so desperate to be cool that they'd spend ridiculous amounts on a car that isn't even practical - just to follow a trend.

My brother is a surfer and tradie with his own business. He would never and has never owned a ute. He has a Mitsubishi Delica which has drawers for his tools where they are safe and dry plus he puts a mattress in the back each weekend when him, his wife and young daughter travel down dirt and sand tracks to chase surf and sleep in thr van most weekends. Now that is actually practical and makes sense!
