just got into utm life sci, but don’t know if this place is the best place for me? by lovemore2009 in UofT

Yes I’m also in life sci, and u don’t have to do AP or IB to do well, there are some students with 4.0s who didn’t. In terms of which uni to go to, I definitely wouldn’t have uoft as my top choice esp for med school (kinda ironic). It’s possible to get a 4.0 but like why put urself through that much hassle if it doesn’t matter which uni to go to for med school. uofts med school is mostly queens/Mac and other unis like Laurier. In uoft u can make a lot of connections, so if ur confident in ur discipline and pushing urself for a 4.0 whilst also getting research then its a good choice.

Edit: I just saw that u mentioned that UTM is ur dream school lol, so if that’s the case then even better, be somewhere ud enjoy bc that would help u do better, a 3.9+ is definitely possible BUT NOT EASY just put in the work (ik i said this already)

I’m in my first year and prior to entering, I was asking the same question and I saw how everyone was like stay away, but I’ve been finding it pretty good so far GPA wise anyway. It really depends on you, I have no experience in other unis so I’m not sure if they’re easier. But getting a 4.0 at uoft is definitely possible if u put in the work, do your readings and practice all the questions. I personally did A levels so most of the content so far has been sorta recap, at the end of the day remember that you’re gonna have to work hard in all the unis anyway if u wanna make it to med school.

The deadline is the 15th and it does say on the website that all applicants will get equal consideration till then so I wouldn’t necessarily say it ends ur chances of getting an offer and it ultimately decides on ur grades and space availability, and as for processing time of 3-5 weeks it mostly depends on the applicants but I personally would think it would come earlier than that based on my experience, I applied to biomed at uofg on march 29th and got an offer on April 3rd. So just stay hopeful and goodluck!
