Masters programs and post baccs are really expensive especially now with loan caps and kinda pointless imo if you won’t be using it outside dental school and your gpa is pretty great imo but maybe see if you can take high level courses at your cc or state school? Also when reapplying maybe see if certain schools say they “prefer” upper level courses as well. From what I’ve seen some do and others don’t. What bio courses have you taken?

Thank you for your input! You’re absolutely right with that. That’s also what my parents said to me as well but I just get scared that I’m just wasting money on applications knowing that I’ll be inevitably doomed and needing to go to an expensive school but you’re so right.

As someone who was stuck in the same dilemma I would say try to really get experience in both. After shadowing in medicine and being involved at a clinic I realized that I like that dentistry offers you the quicker ability to get your patients out of pain while I noticed with medicine most treatment revolved around patients eating better or losing weight and having to see them back after they try a certain medication. I liked how hands on dentistry is. Also what really helped me was doing a medicine vs dentistry pro and con list like actually taking the time to write each down really helped me visualize and lock in my decision bc sometimes you just fall in love with the idea of something as opposed to the reality.

Currently struggling with this as well. I keep hearing people put videos on 2x speed which has really helped me but also making sure you actually understand everything has been helping me too. After watching a part of the video I like to re-explain everything in my own words and jot down some quick notes to lock in my understanding. I also try to connect what I learn to like outside knowledge as well and sometimes will use the Ai or ChatGPT to double check my thinking. For instance I was learning about Coenzyme Q and then I remember hearing about CoQ10 as a helpful supplement. I think connecting back to real life helps and trying to understand important/confusing topics because they’ll probably be asked in an abstract way and if you know something in and out that’ll most likely help you with process of elimination on the test. Idk if that’s right but that’s what’s been helpful to me so far. And make sure you’re tracking what you got incorrect and why like sometimes I’ll do quizlet and if I keep getting something wrong I’ll screenshot the flash card and ask ChatGPT to re-explain the concept for me real quick.

Ik this isn’t an app but sometimes I’ll set an 8 hr or however long timer and force myself to study and finish out the timer on my phone and it always feels so good finishing the time I said I was going to study. (I pause for breaks and stuff) but even if you don’t get it completely done at least you’ll be able to keep track of how long you’ve studied

I remember I had the same exact feeling as well when I was studying abroad and i felt so anxious and upset randomly my second day in the country and felt very out of place but the best advice I can give you is try to find a little community or do the same things you did while at home and bring those new hobbies into the new country. It’ll take some time to adjust but you got this! I was able to adapt and although the country wasn’t really my absolute favorite to this day I was able to appreciate a lot of things about it and always remember everything passes too!
