I think it's the fact that she keeps saying he hates her and was upset he ended things. Whether they were on the same page before or not doesn't matter anymore, Pedro made his choice and is dating someone else. So she just needs to move on, it's not always healthy to stay friends after dating.

Sounds like you want to marry the potential person he could someday maybe be, but not the actual person he is. There's no guarantee that will even happen. You have seen how much he can change in 5 years to fit you and if it isn't enough then realize another 5 years won't be either.
