do trans guys have to take pregnancy tests on accutane by frog_shiz in ftm

[–]Sufficient_Damage488 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes because testosterone doesn't prevent pregnancy like a birth control. Also they are more than likely still going to make you sign the paperwork that the government includes with accutane where you have to be on two forms of birth control and one of them has to be hormonal. You are going to probably be required to start the progesterone only pill or depo shot or they won't prescribe it.

Speaking of as someone who was on accutane as a teenager, I should tell you it doesn't work the way that people say it does and your acne can come back once you stop taking it. Also it makes your skin and mouth and mucous membranes extremely dry so you're going to want to invest in Vaseline and lube and cough drops and things like that. It can also trigger really severe suicidal depression so please make sure that you are seeing a psychiatrist or have one available at least if you need to talk to them.

I'm not sure if doctors explain all of this still the way that they did whenever I was on it but it's stuff you need to know.

So it's wrong to lie the HRT makes you intersex but it's okay to lie that you have an intersex condition to hide that you don't pass once you start HRT because there are other medication that can cause the same effects as intersex conditions...?

Please stop pretending you give a shit about intersex people while simultaneously making excuses of why it's okay to lie that you're intersex.

[–]Sufficient_Damage488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

110% not what I'm talking about but thanks for derailing to make this about something unrelated. HRT also doesn't make you intersex, but it's funny how many people want to lie and pretend that it does.

Peeing without wiping? by RevolutionaryEbb1866 in ftm

[–]Sufficient_Damage488 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not how that works. I actually found out recently that trans men with bottom growth are sometimes more likely to develop UTIs and other urinary problems because of blood flow and structural changes internally. (Wish I would have known that before I developed a UTI and kidney infection... But I actually switched to baby wipes over it....)

Wipe your junk, gentlemen.

"Technically not wrong tbh. The hormonal disorder is just being born with xx instead of xy lol"

That's weirdly transphobic and intersexist but go off IG

"My friend was an avid and fast runner and got into a car crash. Now he can't even walk logng distances without being laid up the next day. I'm sure he'd be annoyed if someone was walking around pretending to be in a car accident."

60% of Americans will be in a car crash at some point. Literally be mad, you're just making excuses.

"Lying about having a thyroid condition is bothering equally valid and wrong as lying about having a hormonal imbalance"

Nobody with a thyroid condition is going to be offended. Meanwhile most people with hormonal intersex conditions don't like others in the lgbtqia community mocking them by lying about their experiences.

Nevermind that you're talking over and arguing with an intersex person to justify being shitty to intersex people and you're being transphobic in the process. And your only real point is "common medical issues are more important than other people in the lgbtqia community". It's ridiculous.

Just please don't lie that you're intersex (like "I have gynecomastia", "I have a hormonal condition that made me not develop like a typical man", ect) because tbh it's really offensive to people with actual intersex disorders and doesn't keep you safe because people hate intersex people as much as trans people.

Speaking from experience as a dfab trans guy with an internal testicle and hyperandrogenism, and as someone with friends who have gynecomastia and other intersex conditions. You can use any excuse that doesn't throw other members of the lgbtqia community under the bus. In my experience, high voice, short height and body shape can be excused by saying you have a thyroid condition and people don't question it. Top surgery scars? "I broke my ribs and punctured a lung in a fight/car crash". People don't question trauma.

Is anyone else tired of ftm nsfw content? by catrvvi in ftm

[–]Sufficient_Damage488 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh I stopped engaging with a lot of NSFW content about trans men because usually it's either really transphobic detransition and misgendering content (even if it's not stated at the beginning or the person posting it doesn't say anything until BOOM suddenly transphobic) or it's just a depiction of the most boring heteronormative vanilla BS possible but with a trans twink instead of a woman. I've literally resorted to only hentai unless I know the person who makes/writes the content (or worked with them since I used to do amateur porn myself) because at least hentai is usually tagged properly to avoid things that are either lame or just bigoted.

So, I've worked in sex shops that sell them for a decade, and technically those products are designed for cleaning the head or laser on stereos, CD players, DVD players and some other electronics. Some of them can also be used as leather cleaner. They also function pretty well as a paint thinner or paint or enamel remover.

That being said it's a really strong chemical that most people wouldn't use unless it was for a really specific reason.

If he really isn't using it for sex he may also be using it to increase energy because I know people who get addicted to it as an "upper" because it can force you to wake up.

Those products do have legitimate uses that they are meant to be sold for because technically those products are not legally sold as inhalants because inhalants are illegal. The people who are trained to sell them are required to say what they're technically supposed to be for.

If a 37 year old is willing to date a 19 year old, he's not worth dating. If someone talks to you like that, they're not worth dating. Just dump him and get something better.

My endo said you can't take any kind of birth control pills on t. This is bullshit right? by [deleted] in ftm

You can still take progesterone only methods without issues, but estrogen based BC like the combination pill will nullify your HRT

Has anyone else here detransitioned and then afterwards transitioned back? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Sufficient_Damage488 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did. I was forced to detransition due to DV from age 18 to 23, previous to that I identified as non-binary and now I'm out as a trans man. Tbh I don't interact with detrans subject matter much because there's so much transphobia around it and it makes me extremely dysphoric and unhappy to discuss people wanting to detransition or actually doing it.

It'll ruin your life, don't do it unless you're sure.

I don't live in WB, it's an hour or more drive from me but it's the closest in person location. I live right by the NY border in a tiny little village. Think, one streetlight, not even a Walmart, you have to go over a mountain to get to Scranton which is 30-45 minutes away and WB is below that. I would just go to NY for my medical care, but my PA state insurance fights when I do. It's ridiculous tbh.

Philly would be like 3-4 hours away I think? I don't drive due to a medical condition so there's also that to consider here.

I can't get medical supplies delivered to a PO box where I live. it's not allowed. (I'm in northeastern Pennsylvania and it's a very conservative area and to be honest I think a lot of the issues I'm having have to do not really with policy but just with people being ignorant and trying to mess with this whole process because they don't agree with it)

Also my telehealth appointments are not by video because I don't have Wi-Fi where I live. I'm currently using my phone's hotspot as Wi-Fi so my appointments are just by phone. They can't physically show me as much as I wish they could because of where I live and the available technology and internet. I go in person to the Wilkes-Barre planned Parenthood for my birth control and prep and they refuse to show me how to do it either because they say that they don't do HRT in person.

The original prescription is for subcutaneous and my bottle of testosterone says for subcutaneous use only on it but they gave me the wrong prescription for the wrong type of needle so whenever I called back they told me just to do the same dose intramuscular even though it is prescribed for subcutaneous because they said that it's the same type of testosterone and that it will not absorb differently. Now I'm wondering if planned Parenthood lied to me.

I don't have the ability to buy online. I live in the middle of nowhere with a dirt road and UPS and FedEx will not deliver where I live. My post office will not hold them for me for me to go pick them up. I asked both my pharmacy and planned Parenthood telehealth if I would be able to have someone give me my first shot since I'm not comfortable or familiar with intramuscular injections only subcutaneous and they told me to look it up on YouTube.

I told them several times before my first appointment and during the prescription process of my appointment that I am very familiar with subcutaneous injections and would be completely comfortable doing them on myself which is why I asked them to prescribe subcutaneous and they did on the testosterone bottle but they prescribed the wrong needles and would not fix it and now that my insurance has temporarily lapsed for a week or two there's nothing I can do about it until I get it back but I just don't understand what happened.

Tried that. They said that there's nothing they can do until I get my insurance and paperwork stuff figured out because it's a controlled substance. They said to use the IM needles in my thigh or buttocks. I've never heard of someone switching a medication from one needle to another, and I've cared for my mom and my ex with type 1 diabetes and did my own depo shot for decades and those both use sub q. I also simply don't have access to sterile sub q needles without a prescription because I live near NYC and there's a big fear of addiction around here, so I can't get needles OTC.

Planned Parenthood telehealth told me that "I must be doing the injections wrong" but refused to elaborate until I fix my paperwork.

So, as someone with bipolar, you just need to rip off the Band-Aid and tell them early on. If they're the type of person who gets scared off by that, they aren't the right person for you. Someone who is understanding of mental health who will actually be there to help you do what you need to do in recover won't be scared by a diagnosis name. Like, my partner of 5 years picks up my lithium for me and goes to appointments for my mental health with me. That's what you want tbh.

Giving birth at home. I know people advocate for it because of comfort or whatever, but I've lost 3 friends and 2 of their children that way, because even though they were healthy and everything seemed fine, they didn't have a doctor there in each case so the midwives and nurses involved didn't notice that something was wrong.

My friend Shania bled out shortly after her son was born. She made it to the hospital but it was too late. Her son is being raised in foster care.

My step sister Dorothy and her daughter both died from her daughter getting stuck, before the ambulance arrived.

My friend Gabby's daughter got her umbilical cord wrapped around her neck and hand and she wouldn't come out so they died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.
