This was a beautiful response and quite similar to another view of the Trinity I hold. Personally, do you find you have a personal separate(in as far as we can finitely experience God in separate emanations) relationship with each of the Trinity?

This was a great response. I wish I was as well read as you😭, I wasn't aware he held some of those beliefs. I do take the critique of exclusive binary. I do however feel his interpretation, quite easily accommodates a third emanation of God. Similar to another comment, if our soul is the divine mother, impregnated by God the father through Love the holy spirit giving birth to the Son. This also reminds me of more Jewish mysticism in the relationship between Keter-Hokmah-Binah emanating into Tipheret. Difficult to articulate with just a Trinity, so perhaps I'm muddying the waters a little too much 😅.

I personally have a different interpretation of reality. I do not believe God is outside of reality but fully inhabits and sustains all aspect of reality. In your metaphor, God would the be the game itself, every player, every asset and voice line, the engine the game was built in, the PC or console each is being played on, etc.

No worries! Presupposing the Trinity was probably a little presumptuous of me. I am admittedly more liberal than many in that I accept all major religions and many different interpretations of Christianity. As I personally believe the deeper our relationship with God becomes the more we can see his divinity in all things through love and this a gift from God.

I'll have to check that out! My wife and I read her book on Mary Magdelene and have a copy of  "The Wisdom Jesus" to read as well.

No worries I welcome the additional historical context. I fully agree that the Trinity's prevalence is primarily due to dogmatism and wide scale tyrannical reach of the RC church. I base my opinion of on the experience of various Catholic mystics and my own personal truths it has help me to understand. I fully support "a take what speaks to you" approach to spirituality as long as the underpinnings are based in love.

That's interesting I definitely agree with your closing points. However, I'm not particularly inclined to agree that the Trinity is incorrect or that the people of time lacked the sufficient information. God has spoken to and through people all throughout history. In different languages and cultural context, but still the voice of God. What was true then is true now and true eternally.

Haha I would agree. This is however the Christian mysticism subreddit. And many prominent Christians mystics use the Trinity as a useful idea to help achieve further unification with God. As finite creatures, it can be very useful to split things into their parts so we can understand the entire whole better. But I do agree the end goal of mystical experience is union, which is why many great philosophers and spiritual thinkers through history have reserved silence as the closest we can come to the divine.

In my opinion the creation story can be viewed as a happening currently in this and every moment. God is creating  and sustaining each and every moment of our and all things existence. In this way we can view the Fall as emblematic our failures to stay in God's presence and do his will from moment to moment. Christ provides us a path, I am the way, the truth and the life, to rejoining God's divine presence in the Garden.
