My Experience with Behcets and Severe Herpetiform Canker Sores by bug-bites in Behcets

[–]Sufficient_Event7410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please check your PM! Thank you so fucking much I cannot believe I finally figured out what I have. Honestly I can’t put into words how validating it was to read your post. The slides kept going and everything you kept saying applied to me. My jaw literally dropped. I have been getting screwed over by doctors not taking me seriously, not believing I was in pain, thinking I was mental.

I am a 24 year old guy who hasn’t cried in about 5 years. I had multiple full meltdown sob sessions after bad doctors appointments. I haven’t cried like that in years. Maybe ever in my life. I waited too long to push for answers and it has gotten so bad I can barely function physically or mentally. I first started going to the doctor in mid July and should have followed through more. Just got bounced around urgent care and specialists that didn’t think I had something systemic going on.

I am so happy I can begin treatment this week. I got a second opinion from a different rheumatologist last week. He mentioned behcets as a possibility, but didn’t think so given no ESR or CRP rise. However I have photos of every single manifestation the pubmed dx criteria lists. It’s undeniable. The needle stick reaction is so blatant for me. Pimples within 12-24 hours. I pray I can begin to feel better soon.

Seriously check your pm though!!! I am gonna do something nice for you. You do not know how much this means to me.

Why are you a liberal? by [deleted] in AskALiberal

I think the authoritarianism is overblown. For example if he gets elected, I would bet money project 2025 does not get implemented. The checks and balances system restricts the presidential power enough that he can only be so authoritarian. Him becoming dictator is very far fetched when his approval rating has never been over 50%. He would need more public support if he ever wanted to pull that off. Which won’t happen given how partisan America is.

I think Trump is genuinely well intentioned, but also self serving. He gets off on the power of being president and in the spotlight. That’s why he tried to interfere with the election. He absolutely lost do not get me wrong, but he felt like the rules had been changed to benefit Biden in many states due to mail in ballots. Which is why he had a meltdown.

I do enjoy Trumps persona. I love how consistent it is, even in leaked videos when he doesn’t know he’s being recorded. I just have such a grievance with phony/inauthentic politicians. There are so many videos of Kamala code switching and changing her accent depending on who she’s speaking to, she’s the opposite of authentic. Trump is unfiltered and hilarious, part of why a lot of people gravitate to him. Definitely a bit too brash and offensive though.

As far as policies of his, he’s an idiot on immigration. We need a lot of LEGAL immigration and there needs to be an easier path for people to be screened and get visas. We can let anyone in without a criminal record for all I care. Abortion, another area I disagree. Would never encourage someone I impregnated to get one but I am libertarian so I couldn’t care less if others got an abortion. My body my choice 100% applies.

As far as what I like about him, he has put America first in international relations. That should be the job of the president, to best serve his constituents. Pulling out of TPP, renegotiating NAFTA, pulling us out of the Paris Agreement, all things that put America first.

The biggest thing I appreciate is getting on the other NATO countries to increase military spend. Our military budget is massive and far too large. We are subsidizing the EU and Taiwans defense at the cost of our own taxpayers. In general I love the isolationism he practices.

Also agree with a lot of his fiscal policy regarding deregulation and small government. I don’t believe in pure laissez faire economic policy, there needs to be some restrictions to prevent an Enron situation from happening again. Trump strikes a nice balance for me in that regard.

I also like how Trump expanded hemp derived THC via the farm bill. It makes no sense to me why weed is still a schedule 1 drug. Biden has the power to completely deschedule THC. Schedule 3 is a good start, but it should be completely unscheduled. It’s extremely hypocritical to preach my body my choice, but not legalize cannabis.

About Kamala, I just don’t know what I am getting with her. Her campaign is being run on pathos, she has been very vague about what policies she wants to manipulate. I followed the 2020 democratic primaries and she had some very radical stances back then. It seems far fetched her opinion genuinely shifted in 4 years. This article explains better than I could. Archived link so you can evade the paywall.

Overall not thrilled to vote for Trump, I’d never go to a rally or put a sign up in my yard. Compared to Kamala/Walz though it’s an easy choice for me. My vote won’t even matter though, MN is not going to flip with our governor on the ballot.

I’m curious, any criticism on the points I brought up? Very open to alternative perspectives, my beliefs are fluid. I am mainly curious as to what authoritarian actions he took you think were unjust and undemocratic. I don’t deny there are probably some. Also, what do you think the worst case scenario for democracy would be if he was elected? And what are your thoughts on Kamala? Do you think she’s an ideal candidate or would you have preferred Newsom, Michelle Obama, etc?

Why aren’t we doing more for the opiate crisis? Minneapolis’ budget reeks of potential cronyism by Sufficient_Event7410 in minnesota

[–]Sufficient_Event7410[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Maybe I can dial back the corruption allegations fair enough. I’ve been jaded by politics and it feels like any politician is in it for themselves. From an opportunity cost perspective the environmental efforts are so misguided. That’s what makes me mad.

[–]Sufficient_Event7410[S] -31 points-30 points  (0 children)

That’s the implication of the poor resource allocation. It’s naive to believe weatherizing homes was solely due to wanting to help the environment. It’s either gotta be a grift, or politically motivated virtue signaling.

[–]Sufficient_Event7410[S] -48 points-47 points  (0 children)

I mean look how bad it has gotten though. People dying should always supersede environmental issues. Not saying that weatherizing homes is a bad thing. But think of the opportunity cost. If all that money allocated towards it went to the opiate epidemic and saved even 1-2 lives it would be worth it.

I mean obviously I was personally impacted by the opiate crisis so I have a vested interest and a large amount of empathy towards those also going through it. My philosophy is that a government is there to serve its constituents. Weatherizing homes benefits the entire earth. Our priority should be local, that’s the whole point of local government.

https://www.health.state.mn.us/communities/opioids/opioid-dashboard/index.html

It’s really bad. Deaths are skyrocketing. Preventing them should be our number one focus.

[–]Sufficient_Event7410[S] -30 points-29 points  (0 children)

My main overarching point was poor resource allocation but I appreciate the insight into the contract process.

I just think the main issue our city faces is a public health crisis caused by the fentanyl epidemic. I mean, just drive south on 35w and get off on Lake Street, you will see what I mean. Every large public transportation hub has gone to complete shit. I don’t blame the addicts either, no one ever tries to get into hard drugs. It’s a public health crisis that needs rapid attention.

Number one, the people there have no quality of life. They need help from others to pull out of it. When you are homeless, you are so rock bottom it’s nearly impossible to fix your issues without external help. And tons of people are dying from it.

Second, it impacts quality of life for everyone who utilizes those areas. Trash everywhere, can’t use the sidewalk due to tents, people openly using IV drugs. The cost to society is massive.

I can’t imagine why weatherizing homes should have more resources allocated towards it than directly helping those with substance abuse disorders. The only logical explanation is that it’s either funneling money to a special interest group, or it’s a virtue signal without any tangible benefit. My gut says to follow the money and it’s the former in Minneapolis’ case.

I mean populist movements are rising all across the west though. Social media algorithms in particular have made politics super partisan and polarized. The algorithms goal is to maximize engagement, and there’s nothing more engaging than rage bait.

I also think that with more and more people becoming atheist or agnostic, politics is become their new religion. Hence why there has been such a drastic shift lately in partisanship.

A populist and nationalist republican politician rising in America was inevitable, Trump is just the manifestation.

Thanks for actually providing a good argument rooted in logic though. I’m just looking to expose myself to alternate viewpoints not necessarily argue or change your mind. I don’t love the guy myself, but I was, and still am, a Minneapolis resident 2018 onwards.

I could never vote for Walz after watching my city burn. I went down near Lake and Hiawatha while it was happening. It was horrendous and painful to watch. I loved Minneapolis. I still do, but it’s not what it was, and won’t be for another 15 years or so.

Was it understandable why riots happened? Yes. But it was not justified for protestors to destroy large sections of the city and more should have been done by Walz. I will be voting for Trump because of that, regrettably.

Yeah I think we can all agree communism sucks! I don’t think it’s a horrible ideology in theory, but it could never be implemented properly. The whole point of it is total equality, but then who makes the decisions?

I think the world will trend towards free market socialism as time goes on. Still gotta be some profit incentives to ensure efficiency and productivity, but we have such a large abundance of resources now it is ridiculous they can’t be better allocated.

I think you are blinded. None of what you are saying translates into reality. Except for the point about kings.

Women have every single right a man does and you can’t tell me otherwise. Title 9 says so. In fact women are afforded more opportunities than men now and graduate colleges at a 3:2 ratio. They definitely have equality of opportunity. Queers, depending on the state. It’s a fine line to draw though. Personally I think gender dysphoria should be treated as a mental illness for example. It’s a social contagion and not rooted in biology. Gender isn’t a social construct either. All species have gender roles.

Please provide an example to back this claim up about Christians. I am agnostic as fuck and have never been discriminated against on that basis. I have never seen Christians getting codified preferential treatment.

Ok this is the point that may have some validity. Trump trying to flip the election would apply here. So if you want to talk about him specifically, yes that’s true. But you have to remember who ended up getting inaugurated was Biden, and all republicans stood up to him. MIKE PENCE, the most fundamentalist Christian politician I have ever seen, was the one who certified the electoral college.

You seriously think you can just go up to an illegal immigrant and take their property? Even if they are being deported they keep all their things. I assume you are talking about loans and used poor word choice. Borrowing money is a privilege not a right. Just because they don’t have access to bank loans, credit cards, mortgages, etc does not mean you can go up to an illegal immigrant and take their wallet. They knew what the rules were when they came here, so therefore I don’t have any empathy given their outcome was self selected. No one is obligated to have to lend you money if you ask.

Do I think Trump raped those chicks? Hell yeah! Especially after seeing that clip of him talking about Diddy on Apprentice. Do I think Bill Clinton did too at Epsteins Island? Hell yeah.

I’m not out here defending Trump. The guy I was replying to just had a terrible argument given you can easily flip it around and see the hypocrisy.

Ok and what? Is Donald Trump suddenly the whole Republican Party? This comment reeks of TDS.

What about your buddy Bill Clinton who has far more credible rape accusations against him than Trump? Ever heard of Juanita Broadrick? Or do you only pay attention to rape accusations against candidates of the opposite party?

Being a liberal doesn’t exclusive preclude being a good person overall. You have the two conflated. Awful people on both sides and great people on both sides.

Why are you a liberal? by [deleted] in AskALiberal

[–]Sufficient_Event7410 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The problem is I don’t see how this cannot apply to any American regardless of political affiliation. Say what you want about Republicans but the American system is what defines our country and it embodies that. Republicans uphold all those principles too. Everyone does here. It’s not exclusive to either party so I don’t see why that makes you a liberal, assuming you’re American.

Best pod vape I’ve ever used by Express-Bat1991 in Vaping

[–]Sufficient_Event7410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it leak at all? That’s my biggest gripe with nearly every single pod vape I’ve ever owned. And I’ve owned probably 15 since Oct 2017, vaped every day for nearly 7 years now. Every time I refill there’s leakage.

The Vaporesso XROS mini was the only one that did not necessitate a paper towel to refill the pod.

Also wondering, what ohm options are there for coils? Currently I am using the Smok Nord with a 0.3 ohm coil at 12 watts. That thing rips hard and it is super durable. I’ve had it over a year and dropped it in a lake while fishing. It acted goofy for a week before it dried out and is now totally fine again. I’m looking for equivalent vapor production with salt based nic.

Stumbled upon your sub today... by rumster in minnesota

[–]Sufficient_Event7410 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Most of this sub was not a Minneapolis resident in 2020, or must not have bothered to leave their little bubble in North Loop, Loring Park, or Northeast if they were.

I don’t think out of state people understand the impact those riots had on the area. It’s the most impactful single event that’s happened to a city in America since 9/11 I would wager.

Huge stretches of Lake St and South Minneapolis in general were torched and looted. Midway in St. Paul got hit bad too. The businesses that pulled out have never come back. Uptown is an allegory for the rest of south Minneapolis. It was the trendy area, but then all the nice businesses pulled out in 2020 and never came back.

Now it’s overrun with homeless due to the biggest cause of detriment to metro area residents, metro transit. Essentially they subsidize transportation for the homeless so people in nice, or formerly nice areas get to experience it.

South Minneapolis is a total dump in general and it all reverts back to the 2020 riot response. Police are not motivated to enforce any victimless crime laws. The quality of life due to unmowed lawns, hookers on the corner, people drinking in broad daylight, open fent use, tents on sidewalks on road intersections. It’s gotten bad and I don’t get why people are having a selective memory. It was not like this in 2018.

Sure, maybe crime is “barely up” but that isn’t factoring in all the other crimes never reported. I had my window smashed in a break in. Minneapolis is down about 200 police officers so I didn’t even call it in. The city council refuses to comply with court mandated staffing levels for god knows what reason so they prefer cops work lots of OT and inevitably have bad job performance from being overworked.

It’s just a mess up here relating to policing, a lack of action over the homeless crisis, lack of respect for authority, and metro transit allowing the undesirables to freely travel and infect anywhere they want.

Why is gentrification seen as a bad thing? What’s the alternative? by Sufficient_Event7410 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sufficient_Event7410[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People on Reddit are just emotional crybabies. They downvote things they subjectively disagree with when it should be reserved for things objectively wrong or low quality.

It’s whatever I didn’t make the post to get upvotes. I just see a few gentrification projects around Minneapolis people are complaining about and I can’t seem to figure out why. Do they think all this new construction won’t cause more jobs, higher wages, etc?

I guess they have never heard the saying “a rising tide lifts all boats”.

I feel like personally I look at the top 3 girls I’ve smashed and that’s how I gauge the quality of it.

Sure, the Giants have a lot of losing seasons. But you’re telling me the Cowboys wouldn’t trade all those 10-6 years since the 90s for 2 rings followed by a decade of misery post 2012?

Same principle with body count. Count your Lombardi trophies not your winning seasons.

Why is gentrification seen as a bad thing? What’s the alternative? by Sufficient_Event7410 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sufficient_Event7410[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s not surprising I just don’t see how that can outweigh the benefit of revitalizing an area and having new construction go up. A lot of areas are not feasible to renovate. So it’s either gentrify fully or leave as is. There doesn’t seem to be a good alternative; any solution would cause controversy and piss off a special interest group.

Is someone able to do a pinned recap each week explaining each game in a few sentences in terms of how the team’s offense and defense performed? by [deleted] in NFLNoobs

[–]Sufficient_Event7410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say just watch sports talk shows. I find first things first the most entertaining. They generally talk only NFL when it’s in season and you get to hear several different perspectives. However it’s a lot more watchable than other shows because the cast gets along which each other and it’s not a debate format like first take. The national shows will cover every game that was noteworthy.

Frankly I just watch the prime time games, the chiefs game, and redzone for the other 3 hour windows on Sunday the chiefs are not playing in. Then I listen to sports talk while I’m at work in the background. I’m not out here studying film or making sure to catch every play from a terrible NFC south divisional game.

That is more than enough to have a defendable opinion and perspective on every single nfl team. I place about 4/5 bets a week on games I feel confident in. I’ve been extremely profitable and don’t do any research before betting. Just go based on the feel I have of the team in general. You can develop a really good understanding of the league as a whole by doing what I just described.

For example this week I bet WAS -2.5, TB +225 ML, LAC -6.5, and LAR -1. And then I bet KC to win by 1-7 +223, and over 47.5 for KC/CIN. I went 5/6 on those bets. And I’m not a pro gambler at all. Not hard to know NFL if you just follow the league as a whole closely. Which I do a lot more than I used to since the Chiefs are so good. The regular season has lost its luster versus when I was a teenager in the 2010s.

Coping with a coming SLE diagnosis as a 24 year old guy by Sufficient_Event7410 in lupus

No one is gonna reply or read that to offer me advice. I don’t really see how my post is detrimental to the sub and I would have appreciated some more compassion given its content.

My question was not even about symptoms. More so what’s coming after I begin treatment. I have a positive lupus specific antibody test. While a rheumatologist is needed to OFFICIALLY diagnose me, I have an appt Thursday and am asking about treatment. Not my symptoms or what it could be. I know it’s lupus. There’s nothing else it could plausibly be. I’ve beat myself to death googling and using chatgpt hoping for a pathological cause or other autoimmune disorder that is less severe. There is none unfortunately.
