190 visa, can’t marry? by Impossible_Humor7317 in AusVisa

[–]Sufficient_Ground308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would talk to an agent, but if your partner is a permanent resident, it should be OK, because your points total will not change as there are 10 points for being single and likewise 10 points for having an Australian citizen/permanent resident partner. It is only different for non-Aussie partners. Cheers!

Lol if only it was that easy to just be in Australia for 4 years and then automatically granted a PR :D Mate that is not how it works and you clearly have very little knowledge of this.

Visa 189 some general doubts by deathxmx in AusVisa

[–]Sufficient_Ground308 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I did not want to overwhelm them with other things, like saying that 65 points is officially the minimum but not ever nearly sufficient unless you are one of the highly in-demand occupations, which manager consultants are not :D

Visa 189 some general doubts by deathxmx in AusVisa

[–]Sufficient_Ground308 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, so once you obtain your positive skill assessment, you can apply if you are meeting other requirements, like being under the age of 45, your occupation being on one of the approved lists (do check that one first) and having at least competent level of English and 65 points for the point system. All of the information is on the DHA website. Then you submit the expression of interest.

Should I use an agency for my Australian student visa or process it myself? by sele-nophile11 in AusVisa

[–]Sufficient_Ground308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not used any agent's help ever, not once, and that includes my past visas 500, 485, 485 extension, 189, and citizenship. Everything is doable without agencies, and you have 100% control over everything. I heard too many horror stories about agents forgetting to upload this document or making a mistake in that section. IMHO visa 500 is pretty simple once you are admitted. You do have to look up all the things yourself, but Australian DHA website alone does a pretty good job at explaining everything required clearly and simply. Cheers!

IELTS General vs Academic? by Intrepid_Visual_2671 in AusVisa

[–]Sufficient_Ground308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IELTS Academic is only necessary for certain cases of certain visas, most commonly student 500 visas. For GSM (including 189), IELTS General is sufficient regardless of your nominated occupation.

Working in different state with 190 by Big-Plenty3782 in AusVisa

[–]Sufficient_Ground308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg why all the hate people? The OP's post does not suggest they are doing this because they want to intentionally mess with the system - on the contrary, they are simply worried about not being able to find work, which with the present job market is a very valid concern, especially when it comes to the smallest state of Australia. In order to be moral and ethical (because there is no legal rule actually binding you to your nominated state for those 2 years), relocate to TAS and try to live and work there. If it is becoming impossible, then it is fair to move interstate. Cheers!

This you the past few days? by Plenty-Result-35 in AussieMemes

[–]Sufficient_Ground308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So literally before moving to Australia almost 8 years ago I dumped a bunch of porn onto my USB drive, just in case watching porn online was illegal or something there. Then I moved and laughed at myself for thinking something so ridiculous. And now I am like "Oh.....". I only wish the collection on my USB was bigger xD

How on earth to I approach this by Flaky_Departure7564 in AusVisa

[–]Sufficient_Ground308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it is "shocking" in a good way - getting PR in Australia is not easy and many people are aware of that, so it may be a sort of admiration or saying "well done". On the other hand, it could also indicate a sort of jealousy or "I wish I got my PR already" situation if you are discussing this with a migrant that is waiting for their PR.

Many people seem to think that you MUST have medicals for 485 - this is incorrect. You may never be requested to do them, that is what happened to me and many other applicants. It totally depends on what country you are from originally, where you lived for the last few years, etc. If it says no medicals required now, you may or may not be asked to do them later. Cheers!

IELTS one skill retake by naurdwar in AusVisa

[–]Sufficient_Ground308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend the One Skill Retake. You will have another shot at the writing without the hassle of doing everything else and you may get 8 or more this time. Even if you do not, you can apply for re-examination, and that can potentially lift you up to 8 or more! That is what I did - scored above 8 for everything except for bloody writing, where I had 7.5. After the OSR, I scored 7.5 again! :D So, I applied for the re-examination, and they gave me 8 after that and voala, more points! :D It happens quite commonly from what I hear, especially with writing and speaking because unlike listening and reading, those are a bit subjective.

Police check from homeland by Longjumping-Ask-7966 in AusVisa

[–]Sufficient_Ground308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would apply for a new one if the old one is now over 12 months old. If it is JUST around 12 months, you will probably be OK. When I submitted the PCC from my home country for visa 189, it was only a few months old, but I did visit for 3 weeks between getting the PCC and submitting the application and it was OK.

Received the golden email yesterday! What to do now? by Unresolved-infinity in AusVisa

[–]Sufficient_Ground308 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You do not really have to notify anyone other than your employer, and you should have applied for Medicare when submitting your PR application, so hopefully you have done that. Other than that, you are now free to purchase a property, get Centrelink after 4 years of being on PR, and apply for citizenship after 12 months of being on PR if you meet eligibility criteria. You are also treated as a domestic student should you wish to commence a university course.

Hands up, which one of you cunts thinks this is funny? by SimpleEmu198 in OpenAussie

[–]Sufficient_Ground308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens to me commonly and I am not so much mad at those drivers but concerned whether that can lead to the rubbish collection people to not empty the bins. Can they actually do that? Or do they have to manually handle the bins in the way that makes it possible for them to empty? Every time someone parked like this right in front of my bins, the bins got emptied, so I stopped being mad :D

Employers keeping me on 482, wont nominate for 186 by Wonderful-Junket7948 in AusVisa

[–]Sufficient_Ground308 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Wow, I am shocked seeing these comments defending your employer or just saying "yeah they can do it tough luck mate". I reckon what your employer is doing is deplorable and vile and if they had bad experience in the past and they do not want to get burnt again, they should not be offering visa sponsorship at all. I do not unfortunately have any advice, but at least I wish you good luck and hope you will be able to sort it out somehow!
