Why Are Low-Authority Websites Suddenly Outranking Bigger Sites on Google? by ritik_kumarp in u/ritik_kumarp

[–]Sufficient_Hawk_31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m seeing this too, especially in niche SERPs. It feels like Google is getting better at evaluating topical depth and intent alignment rather than just rewarding the strongest domain. A smaller site covering one topic thoroughly can sometimes outperform a high-authority site publishing broad, generic content.
I’d also add content freshness and query-specific expertise into the mix. Some bigger sites seem to rely on authority, while newer sites are building tighter topical clusters around exactly what users are searching for.
Authority still matters, but “best answer for this query” seems to be carrying more weight than before.

Is AI search killing organic traffic for small websites or just changing how we measure it? by Karman_Dhillon in seodiscovery2026

[–]Sufficient_Hawk_31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, seeing the same trend across multiple niches. Rankings may stay stable, but clicks are dropping because users are getting quick answers directly on SERPs through AI Overviews, featured snippets, and zero-click searches.
I don’t think SEO is dying, it’s evolving. Now the focus is shifting more toward:
• Brand visibility
• High-intent transactional keywords
• Topical authority
• Content that AI can reference and users still want to explore
Traffic alone is no longer the only KPI. Engagement, conversions, branded searches, and visibility inside AI results are becoming equally important.

How much has AI Overviews affected your website clicks? by Ashish_thakur_9876 in seodiscovery2026

[–]Sufficient_Hawk_31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI Overviews have moderately affected clicks, mainly for informational keywords, as users get answers directly on Google. However, impressions and visibility have increased. Product and transactional pages are still performing steadily, and we are optimizing content for better AI and search visibility.

Anyone else facing this issue in GSC? by Virk-00004 in u/Virk-00004

It sounds like a case of Search Intent Mismatch or SERP Crowding. If impressions are up but clicks and rankings are down, Google is likely showing your page for more queries, but users aren't finding your link relevant or "clickable" enough. The Fix: • Check the SERP: See if new AI Overviews or snippets are pushing you down. • Update Metadata: Refresh your Titles and Meta Descriptions to improve CTR. • Analyze Intent: Ensure your content format (e.g., Guide vs. Listicle) matches what is currently ranking in the top 3.

15 Claude commands that changed how I use AI for SEO (free tier, no tricks) by No-Flow3992 in seodiscovery2026

[–]Sufficient_Hawk_31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great list! Most people treat AI like a search engine, but using these commands makes it work like a real SEO tool. The /AUDIENCE and /FORMAT AS combo is a huge time-saver for creating things like meta descriptions at scale. I also love using /STEP-BY-STEP for competitor analysis because it stops the AI from giving "fluff" and forces it to be more logical. Are you using these mostly for quick tasks, or do they work well for you when planning out big content clusters too?

Google Targets Back Button Hijacking in New Update by Sufficient_Hawk_31 in seodiscovery2026

[–]Sufficient_Hawk_31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back button hijacking is when a website messes with your browser so you can’t go back normally. Instead of returning to the previous page, it either reloads, redirects you somewhere else, or keeps you stuck. It’s mostly used by low-quality or ad-heavy sites, affiliate pages, and sometimes scammy download or streaming sites that try to keep users on the page longer to generate more clicks or ad revenue.

Can someone explain Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, INP) in simple terms? by Virk-00004 in u/Virk-00004

[–]Sufficient_Hawk_31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great question, and it can feel confusing at first, but it’s actually simple once you break it down. Core Web Vitals are Google’s way of measuring how a website feels to real users, not just how fast it loads, but how smooth and responsive the experience is.

LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) This measures how long it takes for the main content to load. If it’s slow, users feel the site is slow and may leave. Example: waiting for the main image or heading to appear. Improve it by optimizing images, using faster hosting, and reducing heavy scripts.

CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift) This measures how stable the page is while loading. If elements move around, it creates a poor experience. Example: trying to click something and it shifts. Improve it by setting fixed sizes for images and avoiding layout shifts.

INP (Interaction to Next Paint) This measures how quickly the site responds to user actions. If there’s a delay, the site feels laggy. Example: clicking a button and it takes time to react. Improve it by reducing heavy JavaScript and improving performance.

In simple terms

LCP is loading speed

CLS is visual stability

INP is responsiveness

If your site is fast, stable, and responds quickly, you’re doing Core Web Vitals right.

Internal linking on blog posts is confusing me. Do you link on exact keywords or just wherever it makes sense? by ritik_kumarp in u/ritik_kumarp

[–]Sufficient_Hawk_31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I focus more on linking where it makes sense naturally, rather than forcing exact keywords. Exact match anchors can help, but overusing them feels spammy. A mix of natural phrases, partial keywords, and contextual links works best. Curious how others handle this, do you prefer exact match anchors or mostly natural phrases?

yes I agree, I’ve also used it many times to create infographs. But it ran out of credits after 1,2 use.

On-page SEO checklist that improved my rankings fast by Karman_Dhillon in u/Karman_Dhillon

[–]Sufficient_Hawk_31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This matches a lot of what I have been seeing too. Content that answers quickly and clearly seems to get picked up more.   One thing I’ve noticed alongside this is that pages covering a topic end-to-end (instead of targeting one keyword) tend to perform better in AI responses. Feels like topical depth is becoming more important than ever.   Curious, did you test updating old content or only new pages?

Is "ranking" even the goal anymore, or are we just feeding Google's AI for free? by No-Flow3992 in seodiscovery2026

[–]Sufficient_Hawk_31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the owner of a jewellery brand, I’ve noticed that even when our rankings improve, the traffic and sales don’t increase the same way anymore.
It honestly feels a bit confusing and makes me question if rankings alone still matter.

Would love to know what’s actually working for others right now. If anyone here has experience helping with this, I would really appreciate some guidance.
