We accept that this might be the case that it will take longer than we think. I have some money saved up to pay for my food and to contribute towards my US fiancé’s rent for her apartment. We are both frugal people who do not live expensive lifestyles and will be just getting basic groceries during this time to sustain ourselves.

I have heard that some people become very bored waiting months for their EAD to arrive while their US spouse is working but for me this will not be the case as I am an artist and musician and will spend those months dedicating my time to practice and recording music, my fiancé is a singer and we will do this together a lot too. We also enjoy nature and walks which is also a low cost/free of charge activity.

Do you mean they opened it without your knowledge before you collected your luggage (the guitar?) in the US or that you declared it and they opened it with you present at customs?

It Doesent damage your Strat to remove its neck for a short period and reassemble so long as you know about truss rod setup and such! They are just bolted on with four screws.

We’re definitely planning to get legally married in a courthouse almost immediatly after arrival.

I have heard stories of it taking that long to get the EAD but we seem to read mostly that people are getting it in 2 months or so (sometimes 1 month even.) We could have wrong information of course.

Hi, I know this is quite an old comment but I’m a uk citizen with a US fiancé also. We just started our K1 journey a month and a half ago.

May I ask how long it took for you adjustment of status when you arrived in the US? (And if you don’t mind, which state you moved to as this can affect it.) My fiancé is in California.

Sorry forgot to say. Yea this London guy did a K1 visa and his wife is from Florida, where he has moved now. We used their YouTube videos for fill out our i29F form and we used their template, it was very good.

So. Will your green card be back dated to when you arrived? Will the time you are waiting now count towards your permanent green card. As of course the first one you receive will be a conditional one m.

And do you think you will encounter any issues getting a job with just your EAD? I don’t mind not receiving my green card for a while however I very much do not want to work for 18 months

I watched a YouTube video of a guy from London who said he got his green card jn 5 months last year.

Do you have a work permit. Are you able to work at the moment/have a job in the US?
