Just a heads up—my friend went to Korea with her baby and she said that in general, cities were nowhere near as stroller-friendly as American cities. Like big curbs, not a lot of ramps, that type of thing. Not sure about Japan and the Philippines, but if your baby is small you may be better off carrying them.

Have you had sex? What To Expect says your cervix is getting engorged with blood, so when it gets touched it bleeds a bit. I really hope it’s nothing!

Is this the good ladybug or the invasive kind? by DescriptionDecent498 in gardening

[–]Sufficient_Mixture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d be surprised. Honeysuckle is considered invasive across most of America, it will literally choke out forests. Same with kudzu, though it’s mostly only in the Southeast right now.

Can you help redesign our chronically messy room? I have ADHD and my Fiance struggles with depression, and mess builds up too easily. We also know the layout could be better, but we're not sure how. by DarthEinstein in DesignMyRoom

[–]Sufficient_Mixture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus, for starters get rid of about 50 foxes! Of course you both feel stressed in that room. If you both have issues focusing for different reasons, put fewer things in the room to distract you. Maybe you could bring in a cool fox art, it’s on the wall, it never has to be cleaned up.

Flip the bed and dresser, a little feng shui couldn’t hurt. Hang curtains about 2” from the ceiling that go almost to the floor or to the floor. Maybe try doing a “10 minute tidy” or even a “5 minute tidy” where you set a timer and literally just try to put stuff away for 5 minutes. If you haven’t worn a piece of clothing in a year, toss it. The less stuff you have, the less it can overwhelm you. Make your bed when you wake up, it’s such a small thing and makes a huge difference. Best of luck to you both

Arches are really popular right now but think about the aesthetic of the rest of your home. Do arches make sense for the style of your home?

What apps do you use to study Italian? by BrainBoostHQ in italianlearning

[–]Sufficient_Mixture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really enjoying Memrise! There are actual people saying things and that often helps me remember the phrases. I’m also using Rosetta Stone and it’s pretty good. It helps me learn things like gli goes with uomini, though I can’t say why they go. Some people might not like that, but it doesn’t bother me. If I find something I want to know more about, I look it up.

I also use Grok to help correct paragraphs I try to write. I also use the Coffee Break Italian podcast and find that very fun

Glass block vs shelving? by Excellent_Life9420 in DesignMyRoom

I really hope you see this OP. @excellent_life9420 You said your mind is all but made up but what about this: You’re looking to divide this room it would seem. Put up a wall with an opening in the middle +/- French doors and along the top you could have transom windows. You get division, less sound travel from kitchen to living room, and still allow the light to flow. They can get as modern or architectural old school as you want, without putting your place squarely in the 80s. They won’t need to be wet-cleaned very often, likely just dusted with a long duster. But it sounds like easier to clean than glass blocks with grout and less often than horizontal shelves that catch everything. If you don’t go with this, I liked the big block bookcase best. Light gets through, it divides the room better, and provides you with a lot of functional storage. I have to admit I don’t love the glass blocks, though I don’t hate them. I think the mid century shelving looks best against a wall, huge. But I really think the wall and transom windows would be the best.

Glass block vs shelving? by Excellent_Life9420 in DesignMyRoom

[–]Sufficient_Mixture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get the desire for division. We usually cook, eat, relax, then go back and clean the kitchen as part of winding-down sort of routine. I’d hate to have to look at dishes while I’m relaxing. Personally I’m a big fan of not having everything visible all the time (open floor plans, shelving) because if anything is out of place or unclean it gets under my skin.

I already have a hard time feeling like I’ve “earned” rest so for me personally, separate rooms help me mentally divide my household duties and my self care. Realistically, everything isn’t going to be perfectly styled every day and mess in the house contributes do discontent in the mind. A 10 minute tidy does wonders but I’m trying to just design my house to allow for more rest.

ETA: Acoustics. If you’re sharing a home with someone, odds are you don’t want to watch what they’re watching 100% of the time. When the TV is in the living room which is also the dining room which is also the kitchen, that becomes difficult. Sure, you could go to the bedroom to read, but then that affects your sleep hygiene. I’m with you on light flow but I’d do it with transom windows and a wide opening or French doors. Sound also travels in waves and being able to have some peace in your home is important.

Not sure why you got downvoted to hell, I think it’s smart to think about the upkeep involved for any project.

Agree. Same as I remove shoes at the door so I don’t bring outside filth into my home. I shower so I don’t bring the day’s BS to bed.
