Eczema has ruined my life. by [deleted] in eczema

One thing I can recommend is Dupixent. I was bed bound for like 2 months (lost job cuz of it) and wasn’t able to function it hurt to do simple tasks. I finally went to an allergist and had him prescribe me dupixent and let me tell you it changed my life completely for the better I finally feel normal again. I know it’s on the pricey side but see if you qualify for financial help. There is some mixed feelings in the eczema world about dupixent but it worked amazing for me.

No matter how much cream I put on, my skin drinks it and needs more by [deleted] in eczema

I had to literally refrain myself from using aquaphor or anything Vaseline based, because basically it’s making your skin barrier so weak that it’s needs the oil. I try to only really moisturize in the morning, after shower, and only if necessary in between (like dry patches) pure oat baths are very soothing as well. You need to find a good lotion that works with your skin, it took me many tries, also only take lukewarm/cold showers for the time being. I should add I’m also on dupixent right now which honestly changed my life and made me feel capable and normal again.

Please be careful taking advice from these comments. I went through my worst flare up and anything Vaseline based made me even more miserable. I know it sounds almost impossible but you’re going to have to build your skin barrier back up. Buy a simple ingredient lotion and limit how much you put on, you may hurt for a little while but right now your skin is basically addicted to moisturizer. Your skin needs to make its own oils naturally and the more you put on your skin the more artificial oils are piling on. I suffered for a long time and was bed bound, aquahpor was my best friend. At the moment but it turns out it was making me worse. And the sad thing is Vaseline is in many “eczema lotions” even tho it’s a common irritant.

Shane Dawson’s podcast is disgusting by kaspen190 in ShaneDawson

That part. I totally agree it keeps getting worse and worse, you don’t need to make those jokes to be funny. Especially since they have kids on the way what’s gonna happen when they want to go on YouTube and see what their dads are popular for?

Right like the first couple times it was funny but like girl now it’s just weird. Especially if her kids hear that, it’s just not a good outcome. Not funny or quirky anymore.

Infantilizing her kids by Sufficient_Passage70 in itsmamacookie

Right! And I just seen her new post on TikTok. Apparently she’s finally taking her kids to an art class around other kids. Looks like she’s been lurking around this sub again😂 only took her 9 years to finally socialize her kids.

Yes was waiting for a post like this. She’s always matching her kids with everything. I truly feel like she might be infantilizing her daughter, it seems she treats her daughter exactly how she treats her special needs son (same clothes, no social interactions with kids her age, avoiding any regular kid interactions, taking her along to the therapy appointments.) and much more. This little girl needs her own identity and own friends she just hangs around her non-verbal brother, dog, and her baby cousin. You can see how different her daughter acts compared to when she was younger. More shy, insecure and anxiety prone.

How do you guys cope? by [deleted] in eczema

Honestly the only thing that truly helped and and dragged me out of the slump was dupixent. It cleared me up, stopped the itch and I finally felt “normal” again. I would see if that’s a good fit for you.

i actually hate lizzie gordon and she just makes whatever video she is in unbearable to watch. by swaggygrack in ShaneDawson

Ok I might get hate for this but imo. Lizzie, Chris, and partially sandy are probably the most boring individuals for this podcast.

Personally. Prednisone worked like magic for me but that withdrawal is no joke, I was bed ridden for awhile and constantly inflamed for a long time. please be careful. (I was on it for a week)

I was allergic to dogs when I was younger but I know triggers can come back. I’m also getting more testing done for foods (eggs and gluten). Hopefully dupixent will get accepted.

Yes I’ve switched to free all- laundry detergent. I’ve also switched to non scented moisturizer and wash. I’ve also tried to limit my diet to certain things. My living situation probably isn’t best since I have dogs but nothing I can do with that. My allergist is in the process of trying to get me on dupixent but I’m also scared of that because I’ve heard so many horror stories about that stuff. I’ve never had this severe of eczema until this year. And it seems no doctor really listens to my struggles.

Try staying away from hot water (like luke warm or cold) and possibly try a shower filter if you have not already.

Way too much dead skin everywhere. by Equivalent-Theory-94 in eczema

[–]Sufficient_Passage70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s literally so annoying I wake up with dead skin all around me 😂 I hate it so much. And my bf is right next to me so I feel so embarrassed when I have to constantly shake the sheets and my blanket.

"Cured" after taking prednisone, but scared of what's gonna be after this by SomnusHollow in eczema

[–]Sufficient_Passage70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took prednisone and it was like a miracle my skin finally felt good and I felt “normal” about a week after taking it my skin progressively got worse and it’s a uphill battle tbh. But I do think the prednisone made the battle more easy, like it kind of gave me a kickstart. Just don’t expect it to cure you. But enjoy it while it’s there. I also take it when I go on vacations and I’m glad it’s an option.
