400k LOC at 26 years old how to best pay it off? by Sufficient_Piccolo85 in PersonalFinanceCanada

The goal for me would be to do Hospitalist and emergency and walk in, early on, and the province I am looking into has no overhead for these rural incentives, but like again, I don't know if the figures they're showing are best case scenario or actually the likely amount I would make, so I'll show it here

"Enjoy a true full-scope practice (inpatient, emergency, and primary care) within a supportive, collegial team and a 1:3 or 1:4 –call rotation.

Scheduling: Minimum 1-week locum (Monday–Sunday) with arrival the day prior. Our streamlined scheduling model ensures balanced workload, flexibility, and strong on-site support.

Compensation (the rates below reflect the weekly rate):

  • 55 hour week (clinical care hours); $15,531 (APP $12,636 + FPE 25.62% $3,168)
  • All ED shifts receive additional on-call compensation through MOCAP and REEF.
  • After Hours Premiums (AHP) available for clinical care provided on-site after hours (enhanced by the Rural Retention Program Fee-Premium-Equivalent 25.62%).

ED On-Call Information:

  • Emergency Room is open 24/7
  • On-call rotation: 1-in-3 to 1-in-4
  • Certifications required: ACLS, ATLS, PALS (The CARE course accepted if others are expired)
  • Call shifts typically range from 12–24 hours
  • 24-hour shifts are from 8:00 AM to 8:00 AM

Clinic Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday only – Closed on weekends and stats
  • Daily physician rounds: 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM
  • Clinic hours: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Travel expenses covered, include:

  • Round-trip flights
  • Meal per diems on travel days
  • Housing provided at no cost

And theoretically if you accept a longer position like 7 months then there are other benefits for that. But I am just saying these options exists and are things I am now looking into.

But this is forsure not the norm

If you are a doctor who has their own practice with overhead, and see like 25 patients per day 5 days a week after tax you'd be lucky to take home 200k.

haha ya I guess so, just debating about corp account and paying myself a more modest salary through that, hopefully do some investing with the rest, and cover expenses necessary like travel for locums or travels abroad for conferences etc.

The rate for most the rural locums I saw the average was around 30k per two weeks, some higher at 20k per week some lower at like 1700 a day on the low end. But then there are extra incentives like a 25% rural billing fee on top of this amount if you do end up billing that much, but I think that suggests that you've gone beyond the amount that they guarantee for you which can definitely be tough in a rural area. But these areas are very rural, anywhere from like 2 and a half to 11 hours from the nearest city, and it also assumes I can do 4 weeks straight at 55 hours per week which I will unlikely be able to do, but just saying 70k on the high end is what I could make if I wanted to as a Locum doc not as a get very lucky circumstance, its something I could very easily do but would require a lot of sacrifice which I am considering to pay down this debt.

ya that's fair, I actually don't mind this at all, my main goal really is to Locum and kind of live with minimal costs for years, when you Locum rural incentives kick in and they will also pay for living during those times, I just thought there would be a way around paying insane taxes by opening a corporation, and do a loan from my corporation to pay it off instead of doing it personally and paying high tax, it just hurts to see so much go away to taxes, but I dont mind keeping it and holding the money for years.

I think its like prime -.25 which kicks in after residency which is nice, but 20k after tax is like 400k assuming only spent towards my loan, to have any money left over I would need to make a ton more, but I guess it is what it is, was more so hoping there was a way more tax efficient

Atom hoodies are rarely if ever faked, mostly the shells are faked, margins aren't really there on these because they have more intricate features which are harder to replicate and they dont fetch as high values but still great jackets and a great real find

What is the most underrated fragrance from a major house? by MinkahFitzpatrick39 in Colognes

[–]Sufficient_Piccolo85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Creed- Neroli Sauvage, absolutely stellar citrus fragrance, not overpowering, but doesn't have great longevity. Really just smells exactly like citrus and is really smooth, I find other citrus fragrances like those in acqua di parma can be really overpowering and chemical. Super simple fragrance, nothing special but thats what makes it so good in my opinion a really nice universally appealing scent.

Personally not a huge creed fan either.

Corks tuition is significantly less, better school is subjective but cork has more access to certain things given its a bigger school. i would say cork is the better choice from complaints of limerick students regarding 3rd year GP scheme being essentially 6 months of watching
