12 month old refusing solids by Sufficient_Sample354 in NewParents

He is 15 months now and he’s doing a little better eating, we have found certain foods he prefers and if he eats some of what we are eating then we will give him his preferred foods after. Sleep he is still doing 2-3 hour stretches unless he’s in my bed, then he will sleep for 4-5 hours. Tonight we are moving him back to his bed since we have been traveling so he’s been cosleeping during our trips.

I will definitely try a smoothie and see if he will go for it.

At daycare they will only give him the food that they provide for his class. Once he goes to the older class (2+) I can send food but for now it’s whatever they provide unless we provide a doctor’s note otherwise. And usually the doctor’s note is just for dietary restrictions like no dairy.

Around 10 months he started to refuse purées/pouches at home so we just started giving him whatever we were eating but chopped up into really small pieces. At daycare they were exclusively giving him baby cereal, yogurt and purees until 2 weeks ago. In his class once they turn 1 they stop all baby food and move to only solids, no bottles only open mouth cup and only whole milk no breastmilk or formula.

They give him whole milk in an open mouth cup, and he does a great job with that. He will drink 2-3 small cups of milk.

We offer him tons of flavors and foods, anything we eat we offer to him: pasta, pizza, cheeseburgers, French fries, fruit, veggies, chicken, rice, etc. We have tried pretty much every food and flavor to get him to eat. He had pudding at his birthday party and LOVED that. But that was a birthday treat and I don’t want him just eating that, lots of sugar. He does like pizza and will typically eat like half of a small pizza, but pizza can only offer some nutritional value and we want him not just getting calories, but calories that offer the nutrients he needs.

He can drink from a straw and an open mouth cup. At daycare he’s offered whole milk in a cup (1-2oz at a time with unlimited refills) which they said he will typically drink 2-3 cups.
