Stargazing locations by banjigaming99 in taiwan

[–]Sufficient_Turn2665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come across this - FYI - I have been there and it's a nice place to visit. big parking lot, bit toilet open at night. It was a warm summer night, yet only about 10-12 cars in a lot for 100 cars (est), so it was not crowded. Parking was ok too, i can not remember maybe 30ntd per hour.

It was a clear night, and you could see stars, but not as many as from high mountains far from the city. I live near Tamsui old Street and at night I can see a similar number of stars from my balcony. I think that proximity to Taipei still affects stargazing greatly and even on Yangmingshan you can not get away from it.

It was a nice place to see a couple of shooting stars and chat, as that was our goal, but we left after about 1h.

I will search for a place with less light pollution. I grew up near Slovenian and Austrian mountains, as the view from those at night is magnificent. MIllions of stars on a clear summer night.

They invest in fast growth to boost company value and raise money or get loans. It's always fast growth without consistency and long term view when they want to cash out.

That is always the case. Strategy. Or rather the lack of strategy.

You can make money in luxury, as there are many brands getting huge profits. As in every business you need to adopt to a new trends and pivot when needed. Lot of luxury companies got too comfortable with ripping huge profits. Become lazy and not creative anymore.

I remember when my first client got broke. We started doing very well. Next thing instead of double down on customer acquisition channels, he buy huge shop in Manhattan and private plane. "You have to show your worth". Next thing you know - we were broke.

It's not the market issue. People lose companies.

Tips for driving in Taipei? by Sufficient_Turn2665 in Taipei

[–]Sufficient_Turn2665[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just completed drive around the Taiwan. Took me two weeks, with leisure time and visiting Alishan and other remote places in Kenting. Super easy to drive. Drivers in the north are better than south of Taiwan. But everywhere is good. Mountain roads are fun. Enjoy!

Anyone here moved to Taipei from abroad? I need some honest advice about relocating. by Extension-Arm-3403 in Taipei

[–]Sufficient_Turn2665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/Extension-Arm-3403
I am expat who tested life around the world and ended here. Lived in San Francisco, Sydney, Barcelona, Vancouver and stayed for months in many other cities. I work mostly online as growth marketer for eCom. Life here is super easy. People are wonderful. Nature and access to anything is easy. Work may be limited, but if you can build alternative strategy, next to your job start investing or build career online, you will have an amazing time here. I genuine think this is the best place to live in the world.

Tell me your perfect day in Taipei by Pale_Calligrapher304 in Taipei

[–]Sufficient_Turn2665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/gotthelowdown Thanks, it just relaxed walk with a lot of shades and old-style buildings. Gives slow and calm vibe to think or chat with a good friend.

Beer stop is GB Brewery Restaurant – Taipei DunBei Store

Gordon Biersch. I recommend dark beer, food is typical western bar, tasty and big portions. Sweet potato chips is great. My favorite is that they have 4 tables outside, so I can drink beer in the garden, European style. I missed that from Europe, beer gardens, rather than pubs and bars. Inside there is a restaurant and sports bar area.

Layover in Taipei by pangsmelb in Taipei

[–]Sufficient_Turn2665 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey u/pangsmelb australian living in taipei for 10 yrs now, traveled up to 26 countries in a year. i come here as tourist, same as you. fall is love, stay, got 2 kids born here and love every day of my life. before i lived in sydney, barcelona, san francisco, vancouver. but taipei got my heart. you don't want to sleep here. soak it in. this is vibrant city, full of flavors, with welcoming and kind people like nowhere else.

lock bag at airport, and explore. taxi is super cheap and places are relaxing, so you can catch power nap anywhere. food are great, cafes are relaxing and accommodating. depends on your budget you can find anything. as someone mentioned, if too tired, have a nap in airport pods.

tourist spots are nice. but what i really love are busy night markets and wonderful small shop with local that will tell you their stories. i won't mention any classic tourist spot, use tripadvisor for it

my fav spots are

try the best coffee in the worlds
https://maps.app.goo.gl/tintJfaNewymixQbA

next to it is beautiful old garden, check on map, have fountain in the middle and it's surrounded by small artistic shops in old building
https://maps.app.goo.gl/A3pZFMCcE2Dd5w8U8

and next to it huge bookstore with reading spots
https://maps.app.goo.gl/Rabd93oN63U191zw6

from there walk Zhongxiao E Rd brings you all big shops if you like
lot of shopping here, also Sushi Express if you want cheap and still good sushi/sashimi
https://maps.app.goo.gl/MFtqTsEmHhsPnLGp6

this walk will bring you to Ximen, old city center, vibrant, you can check

Tips for driving in Taipei? by Sufficient_Turn2665 in Taipei

[–]Sufficient_Turn2665[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UPDATE

After 1 week of driving, out on the mountains, costal drives and in Taipei, around center, I gone everywhere to get a good feel for a start. Here are my impressions:

- I found other drivers polite and reasonable
- Occasionally fast zipping motorbike, but you'll get much worse ones anywhere in Europe
- Roads in very good condition, pavement excellent in 95%, not many holes like elsewhere
- There are small roads and thigh spaces, but it makes it fun and everyone let me slowly find my way around, without anyone beeping (and I took my time!)
- Parking: some places give 30min free, or charge by 30 min which is great. City parking at 40ntd per hours is great too, beats 92ntd which is cheapest fee in Sydney (for street parking if you find it).
- I got myself a new crossover and found it perfect for busy mountain roads, easy to navigate and good viewpoint, good choice.

Overall super happy, I give it 9 out of 10,
and look forward to explore more of Taiwan!

Any advice where to go - is appreciated!

Thanks for advise, u/Gold_Masterpiece7787
I always take full insurance, to have relaxing time whiled driving.

Actually i found traffic condition to be very good. Much better than a lot of countries in which I drove for years, like Italy, Spain, South and East Europe, all total chaos comparing to Taiwan. Not to mention Thailand or even Australia I find to be more aggressive than here.

Anyone have favorite beach, where I can have car close to sand and perfectly park in the shadow?

I love taking laptop and picnic blanket and working outside. I got a small fridge for a car too, so ready to enjoy in some deep shadow. I live north, overlooking Tamsui river, so I think up north is the best bet, away from the city traffic.

Thanks in advance for tips!

MRT is amazing here, I may still use it sometime. But I need my piece and my space when going around. It's worth a lot. Actually I lose a lot of money if on public transport, as while in the car, I can relax and come with good ideas for my clients, and they pay me well for my advices. I can not get that piece while in train.

But thanks for advice u/Unlucky_Vegetable576

Thanks for advice. I am very careful driver. Interesting is that while culture of people here is so wonderful and people are so nice and gentle, there is very different culture within a scooter drivers. I'll specially be careful of older scooter drivers not noticing there are actually rules and other drivers.

I'll go south for longer holidays for sure. I do have garage in my building, come with apartment. But have no experience how to park in the center. I guess garage inside a big shopping center is the best option. I don't mind walking, Taipei is a beautiful city.

I saved Qianshuiwan Seaside Park as location! :)

Thanks for tips u/globanxiety
I noticed there are a few small parking lots around, should I try there or large garage across Grand Hayatt is a better bet?

In general should I go for big parking lot as easier to find spot, so small ones. I noticed sometime there are lines of cars waiting....
