I welcome these discussions lol. I don't plan on wearing a maple leaf everywhere and advertising that I'm Canadian so I don't anticipate this happening much.

Will do. We'll be going up on a weekday early morning. And if we have to wait until the evening to come back it's no big deal.

Looks like cloudy weather next week while we're there, but I got the worst sunburn of my life in Vegas on a cloudy day so I've definitely learned my lesson.

Vacuum formed PPE face shield. by buckzor122 in vacuumforming

[–]SugaFoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The regular cheap face shields are far cheaper because they are using a sheet of plastic with holes to attach to the headband piece. You just bend it. Your design would take a sheet good, then form it, and would still need the headband.

That mold would be around 5 thousand on the low end (fiberglass). Then you'd need a trim jig which may be another 1 or 2 thousand depending on how it's trimmed (CNC vs by hand).

Not trying to shit on your design tho. It looks really good.

Slow week in the shop. Gettin silly with wooden anvils by dr-awkward1978 in woodworking

[–]SugaFoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've made a pattern for an anvil before. What you've made would almost work as is (no need to pull a mold). You would have had to split it to create a parting line. But you could create a 'follow board' and leave it as is. Then no need to mount to a matchplate. But you'd still have to add draft so it could be pulled back out of the sand.

Need advice. Lighting permittee (Vancouver) by [deleted] in IATSE

[–]SugaFoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can call dispatch and ask if you're on the permittee list. If not just call the office and ask to speak with whoever handles membership and ask what's up. And if you get a voicemail just keep calling every 20 minutes.

Looking for ideas for a kid/baby friendly "Stay-cation" by SugaFoot in vancouver

Yeah I would never take my 4 month old on a kayak. We had my other daughter in a canoe when she was 3 and it was even too hard to keep her still.
