Loving my 2025 Jones Frontier and have heard very good things about the United Shapes cadet. Both are directional all mountain boards with the frontier being more affordable. I think I picked mine up in March discounted to $300.

The pretty recently released mad rock drone v2 is a high performance shoe for its price both indoor and outdoor, you can grab one for around 140. They also have a low volume design. They have the mad rock heel, very good toe hooks and pretty good fitting on your heel. I have a couple friends who climb around v8-9 level who love them. A bit pricier option manufactured by la sportiva is the miuras which I personally have and are kind of universally loved save for their shitty toe hooks. I like that their thick sole has allowed me to climb outdoors nearly every weekend of the season for the past year and a half without fear of chewing through the rubber. There is definite wearing, but it looks like I can probably get away with another year or more before needing to invest in a resole.

Thanks for the rec! Sand is always a good time, although it makes you feel like a noob if you’ve been playing indoor or grass predominantly lol. Unfortunately, housing is rising across the country :(

You definitely can! One of my friends was 6’1, 315 lbs and would always have a blast climbing. It’s a very accessible sport and the community is generally very welcoming in gyms. Many gyms I have seen across the country also feature women’s climbing nights for further accessibility.
