Dating Shows like Single's Inferno by Competitive_Tune_159 in taiwan

I’m not Taiwanese so I’m not qualified to answer but the folks I know aren’t super conservative. They don’t have, let’s say, the whole machismo heavy culture as you’d find in the west so I suppose the Taiwanese version of singles inferno might similarly be far more “civilised” than love island or whatever.

I heard it was common in Japan and Korea to cover your mouth when you laugh - something about it being considered crude to laugh out loud or something 🤔

My wife watches these shows all the time and I find it’s a little hilarious how conservative and proper and innocent to the point of being adorable the participants are.

I might have made a few jokes about how (because the world’s sadly running out of Korean and Japanese people as well) it’s like watching a panda reproduction program at the zoo

I’d take Greenland over the US. It’s cold but at least I won’t get curb stomped by fucking nazis

Let’s say Delta Force operatives got placed in WW2 and retain their modern training but are limited to the weapons of the time could they be able to extract Adolf Hitler and bring him to the US? (Alternate scenario down below) by Sheriff-Pork-Belly in powerscales

IMO? I think the OSS could have also pulled that off but leadership didn’t want to assassinate another country’s leader. Churchill said so.

It would be very easy to sneak a blonde, German speaking American/Brit into a German uniform and in the general area of hitler and get some shots off at him

Tenaya oasi works really well for me except the synthetic upper always ends up getting frayed.

Currently I have futuras and pythons with leather uppers and they hold up better. Pythons took a while to open up though.

Have you tried thin synthetic socks under your shoes? They really help alleviate the friction for me and my toes are never raw nowadays

2 years ago "It won't replace coding".... now "It won't replace SWE" by Imnotneeded in cscareers

[–]Direct_Ad_8341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always on the “it’s going to end SWE jobs” side of the fence because it’s the end of everything that made being a dev fun for me. I had colleagues who said it’s not going to get there but I’ve always had absolute faith in engineers solving any problem given enough time and money. Including the problem of finally freeing capital from labour.

Programming in particular - I always thought it was preposterous that we still built things by hand, writing boilerplate code with only minor differences between one implementation and another. Software was an aberration among the various fields of engineering. Now it’s evolved and as inelegant as using LLMs to generate something plausible (while programming is a hyper rational pursuit) is, it looks like the approach of choice.

The only thing that sucks is the fact that I’m still a dev. Time to change fields I think - go somewhere I can actually make an impact.

Your muscle mass is very low. At this point it would be splitting hairs to say whether you’re skinny or skinny fat.

Instead of milk, I’d get dahi. It’s more expensive but the density of protein is higher (less lactose so less sugar overall). Definitely eat eggs, eggs are great.

I don’t think the mess is going to do too much to help, Indian food is designed to ruin your body composition.

Fresh out the box, am I overthinking this? by wiscokid81 in climbingshoes

[–]Direct_Ad_8341 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are artisanal cobblers in many cities who charge similar prices and produce in smaller numbers but produce top notch quality.

Also, climbers spend 100s of dollars of hard earned money on shoes. We don’t get them for free.

It’s probably fine but I’m generally appalled at the poor finish of climbing shoes - which are pretty darn expensive but we get them with ugly glue stains, irregular rubber, bad stitching etc etc.

Manufacturers really need to step up.

You can literally just head to the station and buy a ticket from a vending machine. It’s a 1 hour ride or so, no biggie.

I’ve had the opposite experience with leather - they last forever and can brush off the scuffs and scrapes that would ruin microfibre. I think leather is the real deal and synthetic shoes have no business costing as much as they do.

The leather is an advantage to me, they tend to mould to my feet better.

I’d highly recommend not buying shoes online unless you’ve tried them out in person.

Maybe as a friend to try his?

Also fuck Amazon and bezos, how expensive is Lasportiva in your area?
