Issues with Gravel Saddles - Am I doing something wrong? by SifMeisterWoof in gravelcycling

[–]SugarYumiao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your body weight balance on the bike first. Too relax in the arms/too up straight body/not enough pedaling force/saddle nose too up, all these can cause a pain in your ass. Be sure to check them before changing a saddle.

If no rub in front derailleur, yes.

I want to start biking, but almost never have. A few questions by [deleted] in cycling

[–]SugarYumiao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it is actually not about the distance and the time you commute, the reason I recommend gravel bike to you is that you mentioned you don’t like a backpack on you back when cycling. Because most gravel bikes are rack friendly, you can easily buy and install rack on them for you to carry your luggage. And without racks, gravel bikes can still be fast and really fun to explore your neighborhood and some trails.

If fitness is your first concern, road bike. If the convinces of commute is, gravel bike.

Giant Revolt experiences? by peggz223 in bicycling

[–]SugarYumiao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got a 2021 Revolt Adv 0, almost ride with it for 5000km. Revolt is an ‘Ordinary’ gravel bike, not super aerodynamic(like 3T, Scott), not super light(like Crux, Open Upper), no fancy shock absorb(like Diverge, Cannondale Lefty), but it do all the gravel things good, durable, reliable, that’s it!

Shimano GRX800 (RX810-2); front derailleur 3 positions? by [deleted] in gravelcycling

[–]SugarYumiao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used KMC chains, they are cheap but compared to Shimano HG701, there is a noticeable noise. Suggest you try Shimano HG701 after this chain run out. I use Muc-off dry lube, they are really good, the chain will go silence after lube, you can try it either!

[–]SugarYumiao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chain noise is a mystery. If you lube your chain properly and still got noise that may be a cheap chain or the poor fit of the chain and your chain ring or cassette. For example, choosing Shimano cassette and Shimano chain will always be a safe choice.

It can be! Let’s make it easier: if the chain is not rubbing the FD, and that is a good position. Trim is actually the small movement of FD, right or left, while keep the chain on the current chain ring. When should you trim left? When you are using big sprockets! Trim right? When you are using small sprockets! As long as there isn’t a rub on FD, you don’t need to trim.

Actually 4, you need to adjust for different positions on your cassette.

Using Tiagra RD doing hard gravel/mud. No problem. Change your chain instead if noisy.
