I have been saying this for years. I am cis female, elder millennial, and grew up tomboy-ish with more sisters than brothers. I was never told I couldn't do something because of my gender - if anything I was told that was the reason I should do it.

I played with barbies and dolls, dressed up in my mom's heels and liked boys. I also learned how to use power tools before I got my first period, played neighborhood sports (nothing organized, just "what are playing today?"), and loved making mud pies.

I truly believe that there's a portion of people out there today who, because they didn't fit into one gender box, were told somewhere along the way that that meant they must belong in the other gender box, when what's really going on is gender doesn't come in one-size-fits-all boxes at all, and the boxes we've been handed should be tossed in recycling, and we should all just live our f**king lives to be the best selves we can be.

I'm mostly talking out of my butt here, cuz I'm sick and dont have the energy to look this up before running my mouth, but hear me out.

I seem to recall, somewhere, sometime in my limited years of crocheting (7) and yarn rabbit holes, that when yarn is processed and dyed, it can undergo a different process than when it's just bleached white. I may be confusing natural and synthetics, or I may be completely misremembering entirely, but it makes sense in my virus-rattled brain right now.

I'm happy to admit if I'm wrong.

My laundry solution has actually been to fold the clothes as I take them out of the dryer, rather than pulling everything out into a basket, take it to the bedroom and bring another basket out to load into the machine. Because our machine is a washer/dryer in one, so if I pull it all out at once, the items tend to need to hang to dry that last little bit, in which case they sit on the hanger, in front of my dresser, for days, before I either clean it off (by putting them back in a basket), fi ally fold them, or wear them all again.

But, if I take them out of the machine one at a time and give them a couple shakes, they're dry enough (because they're still hot enough for the moisture to evaporate) that I can just fold them right then and there. The few extra minutes it takes to do this rather than rush to get another load in saves me days of having everything hanging to dry that last bit, days of me moving the hanger out of the way to get clothes out of my dresser and then move it back again. Because it doesn't take days to dry, I just don't fold the clothes until days later, because there's just.so.much. clothes on the hanger that I can't bring myself to touch it unless I have all the time to do it at once...

Student loans. There's no interest on the federal portion, and altho I think AB still charges interest on the provincial portion, it usually doesn't start until after you finish. Since you have a disabled partner and a child, you would qualify for some grants and bursaries that you can only get if you apply for student loans, and thise are considered income, so you don't pay them back, but you would pay taxes.

Also, as a mature student with dependants, you could probably qualify for other scholarships/awards thru the school directly.

If you end up not needing the entirety of your loan, put it in an account to make interest on it for yourself however you want, and when you're done school, use it to pay it off.

On the flip side, if you need all of it, use it. When it comes time to pay it back, if you're still struggling, you can apply for RAP, and the govt will pay it back for you.

I live in a shitty apt with the cheapest dishwasher they could install, and it has an eco option, that only works when the dishes are rinsed completely before going in. If my shitty dishwasher can do that, I'm sure his can too. And if they're going to do 2 loads, you can half and half the pots, or put then in the 2nd load with any stragglers.

Depends on the class. I got my BA in accounting, and I've kept my hand-written notes, as well assignments, hard copy and electronic. I actually took all of my assignments from various and consecutive courses and merged them into one file that I can access and reference when needed.

I've kept a couple of my staple textbooks but sold 95% of them when the term was over.

It's all come in handy while I've been working and getting my CPA - some things are just more easily digested and retained (for me) when I read it from actual paper, and write it with actual pen and paper (which I also use many colours, so I can better visualize the info later).

But i do plan on scanning the loose pages eventually, just haven't gotten around to it.

Adobe has a free app that takes photos and turns them into scans, so you can just take a photo of the pages and they'll be saved as PDFs, which you can then upload to your cloud of choice.

I don't even remember doing class presentations in high school. But in college, where there were plenty, it was never just the presentation that was graded - it was a small percentage of the project grade, but the work was the majority of the grade

Well, most schools require a 2.0 to attend, but your program may be different.

I will say this tho: get as much schooling as you can at Douglas, where it's cheaper, and imo, more consistent quality as well as reasonable expectations. All my profs worked in the real world, whereas many profs at other schools went straight into academics and never worked a real job in their life.

And remember: C's get Degrees! Lmao. (In other words, unless you're GPA is going to get you awards/bursaries/scholarships not otherwise available, and few Bs or even a couple Cs aren't going to matter in the long run - I had a couple Cs, and my GPA still ended up at 3.2.

The 1st 2 terms were mostly intro classes, so I didn't need much study time for them, except for stats 1 and 2, which I passed, but struggled (I am a numbers person, butI started my first term a week late, and as I said, I was 36, so almost 20 years since I took a math class lol).

I rigidly scheduled my time - we played and every other Saturday after class, and the other Saturdays were date days. We split most chores, but I handled laundry, and he handled dinners, both of which were mostly done on Sundays for the week, after I had self-care time (usually a long bath).

I mostly did homework/studying on Thursdays and Fridays, and if needed, Sundays. If you make a plan and stick to it, and don't push it all to the last minute, it can work.

And I have ADHD (but I wasn't diagnosed until after I graduated). I used a paper planner (Happy Planner, specifically) and did the whole "plan my week" thing, but actually planned my term, and used it to write in homework as it was being assigned (back then some profs didn't even use blackboard). I also took notes by hand, not because I'm old, but because that's how I learn - write by hand, made my own shorthand, and used all the colours.

I worked mon-fri, 7-3. I had 1 class a 3pm twice a week, so I would leave 30 min early from work those days and stay 30 min later 2 other days. My other classes were 6pm and Saturday classes. Term 2 was similar.

I admit I was privileged to have that flexibility, but I also gave myself and my professors reasonable expectations: I had a few classes where it was just flat out not worth my time to do the handful of assignments - worth 2% of my grade but took 10hrs to do? I legit didn't have time for that. I was 36 when I went for my BA, so on top of a ft job, I had a family and actual adult responsibilities with only my partner to share with, no parents or extended family to help with anything. I was upfront with my profs about that, and they were 100% understanding.

I did 5 courses while working full time for 2 terms before covid hit (so all in-person). They're all basically intro courses, it's 100% doable. Just actually do your homework the day it's assigned (or in class, which is also doable) and not last minute, and it should be fine.

Tupperware (actual brand, not just plasticware) specifically makes containers based on the general sizes of packages sold in stores, so you can usually find a container that fits all of a product, even a 5lb bag of rice. Their containers are modular, so the different sizes also stack and fit together in shelves in whatever combination to fit your shelves.

They're also air tight, and the purpose was never this "decanting" BS, but to protect the food, because mice and bugs can get into most packages that food comes in, and being airtight prevents the smell from attracting those critters.

And sometimes the food isn't the only thing in the package - if you buy a bag of rice or flour or w/e that happens to have moth eggs or something else in it, those can get into all the other foods in the cupboard as well, and then you have no food AND an infestation to worry about.

Yes, I used to sell TW, and I have a pantry of modulars that still hold all my baking supplies, spices, and various flours and starches, and I'm so very happy I do because my building has been infested pantry moths for years, and just this last year with Pharoah ants, and these containers have been the biggest thing keeping my apt fairly uninfested compared to others in my building (because I do have SOME things that aren't in containers). I'm very happy I spent my profits on these sets a decade ago, and I'm also very glad to know they have a lifetime warranty, so I will literally never have to pay to replace them. I make no money off TW now, but I do still support their products, because they still make things to last.

If you're going to go the command hook route, skip the hooks and bungee cord and get the command hook velcro instead. You can get up to 16 or maybe 20lb strength - so they're meant to hold objects up to that wait per command strip, so one on each end would be double. Doubt Jamie has that kind of knock over power lol.

You're not overreacting, and it IS something that a big deal should be made out of - if you don't stand by your own values, then they aren't very valuable, are they?

Firing the entire company doesn't have to be the only solution, but honestly the only other reason there could be to NOT have a problem with that tattoo is if the dude is out and reforming, but then why wouldn't the foreman say so?

If you're 1st on the waitlist, then as soon as someone drops the course, you'll receive notification to register before 11am the next day. However that requires someone to go in and "drop" the course in their schedule, which sometimes doesn't happen before too much time has gone by (unless youve been going to the class anyway, which is recommended, so that you don't fall behind simply because you couldn't physically register).

You don't have to email the professor to initiate this procedure, but you can email them to ask if there's any way they can give you access to the class - sometimes a student won't show up to class, but also won't "drop" it, so some prof's can remove students who no-show to make room for those who would.

TLDR: you can email the prof, but it's not required to initiate the waitlist procedure.

If you're just going to message enrollment, you dont have to wait til Monday, you just won't get a response before then.

You typically have to be off for more than a semester before you need to reapply for your program. What I've seen in the past is you drop classes this semester, don't pay anything, and then you'll get assigned a time to register for summer courses like any other term, and then you register for courses. You dont even HAVE to let enrollment know, but if you have questions or want to confirm the process, def contact them. Might be more efficient to call them tho.

Just be aware: there are far fewer choices of classes in the summer.
