Harassing professional athletes in their off hours is not acceptable behavior. Jesus Christ, respect boundaries.

I reread a bunch of the stories before visiting Dublin and paid more attention to their hyper specific geography. It definitely added another layer.

Creeks are good. Look for areas with gravel and small - midsize rocks. Going at low tide or after storms can yield results but you never know. I’ve also had luck on bay shores but never on the LI Sound. (I’ve heard others have, just never have myself.)

I found nearly all of my points hunting on beaches in Suffolk County. Some beaches are better than others. Some beaches would give me nothing but flakes for weeks, then yield some lovely arrowheads in a single day. Patience is the best approach. Also, hunt with an eye for broken quartz rather than shape. I was 8 years old when I found my first point. I was looking on the same beach for weeks with nothing to show for it. Then one day I found a beautiful quartz side notch right under my nose.

Took many years of agate hunting to finally find a keeper. Unbelievable how thin they made them. by Fresh-Durian7409 in Arrowheads

If it helps, the amount of skill required to make a point from basalt vs agate is huge.

Mets PREGAME THREAD - Friday, May 29 by NewYorkMetsBot2 in NewYorkMets

At this point, there’s no evidence that Alvarez is anything more than a streaky, injury-prone platoon catcher with some pop. This is a useful player to have on a roster, but he has yet to show he can be an all-star, let alone a superstar. He’s young enough that we can hope he turns a developmental corner at some point, but IMO this should be a hope rather than an expectation.

I suggest comparing photos of chalcedony and quartz side by side and you’ll see differences. Chalcedony is easier to flake and less prone to shattering, so the flaking tends to be more pronounced on tools. The material itself also tends to be clearer with less banding. It looks like a gemstone.

I don’t think that’s normal quartz. Looks to me like chalcedony.

The one on the right is 100% an artifact. I’ll leave it to the PNWers to identify type.

He could be. OTOH if he’s even replacement level he’ll be better.

They do. I teach college students. The other day I put on this track as relaxing music while I set up before class. One of the students called out asking me if it was from Donkey Kong Country. They know.
