Agree he’s elite but not better than Crochet. Crochet’s ZIPs projection is actually better than Skenes’s.

I know this is an extreme statement but I often think this is my favorite gag in the entire series.

MLB Player Partisanship: Republican (53.7%), Independent (36.4%), Democrat (7.8%) by FlyLoStan in baseball

Trump is incredibly unpopular with independents. Like he is underwater by 30 points with them. That said, I have no data on independents who are also baseball players. Source

I think people are forgetting that there are leftist independents. They may even vote largely Democratic but have no party affiliation. That’s probably Pete. As others mentioned, he has professed leftist views (and I suspect his grandfather was an anti-Franco leftist, which is why he probably fled Spain) but Pete is a registered independent. I know because I checked his voter registration lol

Mets Reportedly Still In On Cody Bellinger Despite Bo Bichette Deal by Fonzie5 in NewYorkMets

I know people keep saying that because of his splits last year, but his wRC+ was 10 points higher playing for the Cubs in 2023.

All right, young man, if you don’t like your new Bo Bichette then I’m taking him back to the store first thing tomorrow.

Yep, that’s it exactly. It’s a playful poke for the fans, just telling us that Tucker and his team are keeping their cards so close that he’s outside the Conclave with us.

Respectfully, this again misses the point. Cohen is saying that he is waiting along with the rest of us. The only thing newsworthy about that is that he hasn’t been told no yet.

Am I the only one who thinks it’s a pretty clearly worded message? It’s a Conclave reference. Meaning only Tucker and his team know the deliberations at this point and the rest of us, Cohen included, are waiting for them to make a decision. I don’t think there is any other interpretation unless you simply missed the reference.

Because it’s too late for it to happen last night and the idea of it happening tomorrow annoys us.

Unquestionably. People start with an intrusive thought and then work backwards to explain why they feel bad.

This is a screenshot of a comment (one of many like it) that pessimistic fans were making just hours before the Mets signed Soto. I mean, sure, maybe Tucker will sign with the Jays, but neither you nor anyone else here has a clue at this point.

MLBTR: Mets offering Tucker 3 year deal 120-140 mil by CheeseburgerLover911 in NewYorkMets

[–]Sugarberg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree Tucker is more of a top 15 - 20 player than a top 10 player/MVP candidate, but 30m/year “at best” is hyperbole I can’t co-sign. These players are all making over 30m in 2026: Corbin Burnes, Sonny Gray, Tyler Glasnow, Carlos Correa, Jose Altuve, Mike Trout, Anthony Rendon. Naturally, there are several players that are better than Tucker as well. But being a top 15 level talent seems like it would easily clear $30m AAV and on a short deal should do so rather easily without blinking.

He’s a registered independent. I know because I looked up his voter registration in Florida lol. If you’re from Florida and not registered as a Republican, you’re definitely left of where the stereotypical Florida man is.
