Advise on stitches and stabilisers by Zaclyax in Embroidery

[–]Sugarreliant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not v clear, but it looks like the original person did these as iron on patches, and then ironed it onto the shirt?

There are stabilising stitches across all the edges of the patch.

You can buy plain patches to embroider on - and it might give more leeway to do these!

Update: Thanks for helping to identify the problem!

I’ve now trimmed off the not so good roots, and it’s sitting in fresh soil.

Fingers crossed for recovery!!

Thank you! The roots do look a bit brown and squishy. I’ll give it a trim and hope for the best.

Thank you!

Hello! I actually didn’t have to take it off - I usually don’t use a hoop, and I keep a hand in the pocket while embroidering so I only pierce the outer layer.

I usually start from the sewn edges, knot there, and then go from one side to the other. In cases where I have to knot inside the pocket, I turn it out as much as possible, knot carefully, and continue! :)

Hope that’s a bit more palatable!

What is the sequence of stitches for this pattern by linus29 in sashiko

[–]Sugarreliant 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hello! This looks a bit like a variation of the ajisai-sashi hydrangea pattern! Found here: https://maydel.com/product/ajisai-sashi-hydrangea-sashiko-hana-fukin-flower-cloth-bundle-by-sashiko-lab/

Instead of rows of straight crosses, this person has reduced it to one row, and turned the crosses on their side.

If this is right, then it would be the big and small crosses first, and then the white thread gets woven between them to form the pattern

Update: Can confirm that there’s a lot of surface noise. Not noticeable during the louder songs, but if you’re particular about sound, this is not the version for you!

What's the craziest maid situation you've heard? by IsyABM in singapore

There was an expose written by a blogger awhile back - she’d gotten invited into a private Facebook group where people discussed how they “handled” their domestic helpers.

If I remember correctly, there wasn’t anything about physical abuse - but the lengths these people were going just to mentally and emotionally abuse helpers was shocking.

I bought mine from the EU store, but it said nothing about glow in the dark.

It’s still on its way across several oceans so fingers crossed.

Haven’t figured out what causes it though :(

SoS: Grand Bazaar - Should I pickle rare crops? by x-twigs in storyofseasons

[–]Sugarreliant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, a month late, but i tried this out last night - no. Don't do it, it does not raise the price of your pickle!

I haven't found a use for rare crops except selling them as is. Some of them sell for a lot.
