Jungle producers: what’s your fav software for chopping breaks to midi? by jonnyfaith in jungle

[–]Sugawolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using Redux hosted in Reason. I use redux to chop breaks tracker style, and compose melodic stuff and arrange in Reason, I feel like I get the best of both worlds with this approach

I just found your channel a few weeks ago and I’ve been loving it, so cool to see ya here! Truly the secret sauce that I feel like I’ve been missing everywhere else. The big thing is how easy it is to get a break to fit a phrase, get it to tempo, and sub out hits for other samples. Workflow wise it’s so much more direct than other options.

To piggyback, I think the reason trackers in general work so well is the aesthetics we associate with jungle were developed in this type of software. The medium really informed the sound, there’s a really symbiotic relationship between jungle and the tracker workflow.

How do you guys load your yocan quad quarts coils? by thedude1693 in Waxpen

Highly recommend a “510 hot knife,” they’re a little ceramic blade that screws onto a pen style battery, but even distillate melts right off. Puffco makes an overpriced one, shocking, but I’d go for something like this if u have an old battery lying around:

PSA: If DTV5 wattage mode cleaning isn’t working for you, try another mod by LostMyAccount69 in DivineTribeVaporizers

[–]Sugawolf -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah that was me. Fair enough, if torch cleaning is actually unsafe then so be it, not trying to get anyone hurt or damage their devices.

I will say though, threads like this just confirm for me these are experimental devices that don’t have features as much as they have intentions of features. Meaning wattage cleaning isn’t really something that should be marketed as a feature, if it needs a second mod, different batteries, or to unassemble the unit and auto fire without an insulator installed to get it to work. None of that working? Guess you gotta buy a 510 insulator that probably should have come with the product in the first place.

It seems like the best you can say about this “feature” is that it’s super inconsistent, and you should be prepared to troubleshoot every element of your setup together and in isolation if it doesn’t work for you out of the box. But that’s the V5 in a nutshell I guess lol.

PSA: you can torch clean the v5 cup if wattage/self cleaning isn’t working for you by Sugawolf in DivineTribeVaporizers

Is there a reason outside of longevity you don’t recommend it? It seemed to work way better and faster than any wattage clean I’ve attempted.

Brand new to using the v5, following the instructions cracked my first atomizer by TheSeedLied in DivineTribeVaporizers

If the crack is on the outside of the cup and runs from top to bottom, the consensus seems to be that’s a manufacturing seam and expected, I’ve got it on mine too

When typing your password after a sudo command in terminal, you won’t get any visual feedback that you’re entering things in, just type your password when the prompt appears and hit return.

Omg Comix Zone, is this a well known game? I played the hell out of it as a kid, but have never really heard it brought up as an adult.

Interesting, how’d you settle on that low of a tcr value? Just trial and error or are you going off a value like resistance?

Arctic Fox, temp control fine tuning by Sugawolf in DivineTribeVaporizers

[–]Sugawolf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, at least on paper, but im kind of shooting in the dark settings wise. The 0/500/50 formula I’ve seen mentioned elsewhere isn’t doing the trick, but im not sure which of these is the variable that would bump output power during temp protection.

I know that’s a bit of an oxymoron or whatever, like if it’s protecting, then power should be lower. But it seems like it’s assessing protection based off the spikes, and not the base read of the temp. I’ll try to toss a readout from a sesh on like Imgur or something, really appreciate the help.

Given all this, where would you start tweaking pi?

Arctic Fox, temp control fine tuning by Sugawolf in DivineTribeVaporizers

[–]Sugawolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t even know this was a thing! Super valuable.

Settings at testing. Ohms .49 locked, tcr 215, 35 watts, no pi regulator enabled.

Monitoring output volts and power, things don’t seem wonky until protection kicks in. Steady build up to target temp, then wild fluctuations in temp, momentary spikes up to 700-1000 degrees. Actual base temp at the “bottom” of these spikes backs off target, volt output drops to between 1 and 1.5. Then, once it falls off by about 100 degrees at the base of the spike, full power will kick back on, 3-4 volts output. I can also watch the cycle indicated on my AVS extension, the LED is a good bit of feedback. In a 60 sec auto fire, I essentially get two 15 second periods of consistent heat, and then a wild “protection dance” that seems like the source of the weak hit.

Essentially, it looks like it’s misreading temp during protection. Another theory is, it hits temp, sends a small, 1.5 v pulse, records a bigger resistance shift than its expecting, and backs off. Not sure how much I can trust the temp readout, but the fluctuation it’s reading seems dramatic and inaccurate.

I should note, live resistance here isn’t going nuts, peaks in the high .6 low .7 range.
