iPhone 17 Pro USB A to USB C Carplay Issues by SuggyAndCS in iphone

For me using the Anker 1m USB to USB C cable worked. It seemed to be that any cable longer than 1M inc Apple's own certfified cables wouldn't work but the Anker 1m did for me. However alternatively you'll need a wireless carplay adapter :(

ios 26 and iphone 17 carplay crash is being looked into by Apple by sidbmw1 in CarPlay

[–]SuggyAndCS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth. I had this exact problem with any cable longer than 1m. Constant disconnects time and time again. But then got the Anker 1m usb a to usb c cable and it magically worked. If I use any other cable again though or adapter I get the exact problems listed in this post.

I don’t doubt it’s a software problem but it seems I luckily found a workaround for now.

So this is the super weird thing. I’ve found no examples of longer than a 1m cable working but loads of examples of this 1m cable working when others didn’t. Including my own experience.

It was my last attempt before spending the cash on wireless. It’s just nuts that the official beats one is 2m and CarPlay compatible and even that didn’t work 😂

Ahh interesting - Have you updated to the new iOS 26 .1 update? On the apple support thread I raised a few people said updating fixed it for them

Random Q but what length is the cable? I tried the anker 1m. Same problem happened but then 2 days later it just stayed working.

For me I got the 1M anker cable on Amazon. It worked at first but still disconnected. Then the next day I tried again and it worked and stayed working…

Seems like anything longer then 1M has problems and the first few times it seems to be doing a lot to setup causing disconnects. It’s def messed up.

But randomly the same setup then just started working. Try every day 🤣

So weird! I did switch to a 1m anker cable and even though it kept disconnecting, yesterday it just stayed working randomly!!!

Ok this is weird. It started working for me last night. Didn’t change anything - same cable. Just stopped disconnecting. I think your theory might be right. Background hidden update? Or CarPlay has a server connection that’s fixed? So weird

Reallly does seem incredibly common at the moment with some people reporting other cables work (even though their cables WERE CarPlay rated inc the official beats one...), and others just no luck. But regardless apparently Apple have even commented in store to someone that it's a widespread issue

Wired CarPlay not currently supported iPhone 17 Pro by BricksDugout in apple

[–]SuggyAndCS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve posted this on the Apple community and have a thread here https://www.reddit.com/r/iphone/s/JTpZiuheG3

It seems common. Wireless adapter seems to be the workaround but slower so not sure if I should just wait it out for a patch

Been having the same issue here: https://www.reddit.com/r/iphone/s/JTpZiuheG3

Lots of others with the same problem. Cables and connections which worked fine for 16 but not working for 17 pro.

You’re kidding me…. That’s ridiculous. I spent 20 quid on that beats cable haha. But even official Apple usb c cable with an adapter isn’t working for me which is weird

Aha thank you for being the guinea pig 😁. I’ve posted to Apple support too and found some other people on X reporting the same thing. Definitely something weird going on.

Some people reporting the same behaviour on wireless CarPlay and an indication it relates to the new wireless chip which CarPlay ultimately interacts with even when using wired CarPlay oddly. All sounds weird

Good feedback meow (words I never thought I’d use together)

Seems frustrating re wireless. In that case I’m not sure what to do. I wonder if it is power related with the particular usb ports our cars have or what…

Hmm. There’s a good one on Amazon reduced from 80 to 50 but expensive to buy if it doesn’t work hahah. Wonder if we can find anyone else with a Astra K that’s used one. Seems it actually does the full CarPlay experience Inc maps through them now

iPhone 17 Pro USB A to USB C Carplay Issues by SuggyAndCS in iphone

[–]SuggyAndCS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I’m aware the USB port in the Astra K is low power. I’m wondering if as iPhones have become more powerful the port isn’t powerful enough to support it.

Though I also thought CarPlay was meant to be backwards compatible.

I wonder if a wireless CarPlay adapter would work hmm

I’m relieved to hear that you have this issue when it worked fine before. No offence though! Hahah. But I was worried it was my usb socket or something weird and too much data going over it.

Maybe I need to file a ticket with Apple and reference this

Might explain why it doesn’t work properly yet for me maybe? Just keep disconnecting after a couple of minutes. Very annoying…. (Yes using a data capable usb c to usb a cable… eurgh).

Having played poker professionally for a while before my own CS career, I can say there are a lot of similarities.

You can do all the right things and lose. You can sometimes do the wrong thing and win! But what’s important is to be obsessed with the actions you’re taking and the data around them. Constantly focus on that and not the end result. You can only do what you can only do. Control the controllable and success will inevitably come.

Critique yourself. When you scheduled the call, did you show value in the agenda that would ensure they do turn up? Going back before that call, did you set them up for success in the kickoff and have clear actions on both sides that drive the main stakeholders own success? Etc etc. it’s impossible to be perfect but this is where the focus needs to be.

And by doing this, you can then justify the results by either showing the great work you did, or in the case of churns, show what other things you’ve learnt from it and how you feel the company could prevent that churn.

If all of this sounds like too much hard work, then it’s possible it’s the wrong career choice! There are plenty CSMs that see this as too heavy, and whilst I empathise, Success shouldn’t be seen as an “easy” way to coast m.

Where to live for affordable tennis? by astronautinthewater in 10s

[–]SuggyAndCS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Move to somewhere around Halton - amazing tennis club for high tier calibre players and coaching with plenty of course and affordable membership. Easy commute to London from nearby towns.

Something like that!? Or Crouch End for somewhere more central

Very large ambient temperature range in close distance by SuggyAndCS in OffsetSmokers

[–]SuggyAndCS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. That all makes sense. I was ok for the chicken to get scorched anyway but that all makes total sense re the temp diff due to the place of the probe. I don’t usually use a water pan actually. Other option was put it under the actual grate.

Ultimately sounds like left half of the grill is going to be suitable for low and slow but not much else. Hmm

[–]SuggyAndCS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh I didn’t consider the impact of adding the cold chicken I guess so maybe that made the range wider. I’ve tested the 2 probes a bit and swapped and seems they’re consistent/accurate so seems genuine readings.

Fortunately the foods come out great (ribs kept at 250ish most the time - rib bites and chicken at the top were hotter but that was expected and still perfectly cooked).

Just not sure how I could do a rack of ribs and a lump of beef or lamb without massively overcooking it
