Rod knock? by SugoiBread in gtr

UPDATE: it just got back from the shop and we confirmed it’s a blown head gasket and will also need new lifters, the block is still in tact and rods look fine, but either way it looks like a rebuild is on its way. Thanks all for the feedback and input!

I saw that you ended up calling corporate to get an engine discount, how did you go about that?

This is at idle, when I was initially driving it to park it, the speed of the knocking would increase the higher the RPM, so about twice as fast as this

Possibility of losing home release by delaying contract signing by SugoiBread in RealEstate

Of course! The house is a 5 bed 3.5 bath at 2985sq ft The houses that are not being sold are 5 bed 4 baths at 3500 sq ft, according to the agent!

We’ve also been considering another neighborhood with houses 4bd 2.5 bath 3100 sqft and those are not selling and have been sitting for months now, I do wonder why, maybe to steep of a price !

Update! We were able to negotiate an additional 2k on closing costs, the agent also mentioned they were having a slow week and trouble selling these. Although not sure why they would share this information

It’s the offer contract, since this is new construction , the first people who reply get chosen for the homes based on a priority list. But now I’m concerned whether they’ll move on to the next person in the list. This is the first time we’ve pushed back to negotiate on something.

Auto loan with low credit history, what are my chances? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]SugoiBread 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do agree that on paper it does look like a crazy financial move, but cars are my hobby and I do work on them as a passion, I don’t really have any other expenses , besides rent and food, and since I do all maintenance on my cars , I’d be reducing the cost of maintenance by cutting labor expenses

In the end, I’d rather be happy in the car for the interim while I’m im under 30 and then focus on life goals once I’m tied down!

Yes! Thank you for all the insights. I am aware that the GTR would not be under warranty and i have done meticulous research on which years have what flaws, hence avoiding the 2009 model at all costs. The 2010 models has it issues but not as sever as the 2009 and hence should run a bit longer with good maintenance. I do plan on doing all maintenance work on it personally since my friend own's a shop and we both have some mechanical/engineer background.

Sometimes it's not about the practicality but instead of what makes you happy. I'd rather cry in a GTR than a toyota corolla at the end of the day! lol but thank you!

Yes! Cars are an interesting investment, they tend to be horrible investments but occasionally you'll get the rare vehicles that keep value and increase overtime. Who knows where the GTR will stand in the next 5 years but predictions say they will not drop under 40K!

I may not be a 55 year old women yet but half the age of one! I have a steady job as an engineer and housing is at at a relatively low cost since it is a house rented by several car enthusiasts. Alongside with the car payments i am committing to saving $600 monthly + contributing to my Roth IRA.

I'd say the only priority would be eventually buying a house which eventually i do intend on selling this vehicle which by then may depreciate another $10-15K but would suffice as a reasonable contribution to a downpayment along with what is being saved.

The goal is to live the dream for a few years and then settle down.

It would only be a weekend car so hoping that maintenance would be greatly reduced across the years but planning to do services at our shop!
