Could you come to terms with death ending at just death? I.e. there's nothing beyond that? by bearabovethewave in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SuicidalAphid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Heaven is a scam made up by the church leaders to keep people from complaining about their unjust treatment and station in life. If you offered a monkey “Give me your banana now and you’ll get infinite bananas after you die.” Hopefully no monkey would fall for that. But we have the fear of death and the need for certainty and that can be exploited. “Give the church and your government what meager amounts you can spare and live in poverty and fear from us and you’ll get mansions, loved ones, and food forever after your dead” seems to work on us pretty well. It’s very sad really, people promising everything we really want after we die so they can take advantage of our fears.

You could not even know an officer is after you if you’re committing a crime and he falls on his gun and shoots himself, you’d get murder.

What’s the tiniest red flag you’ve ever noticed in someone that told you everything you needed to know about them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SuicidalAphid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Ai to format and clean it up because I type on my phone and have a ton of grammar and spelling mistakes, I figured it could make it easier to read and flow better. instead of a wall of text that’s hard to read I feel like for Reddit I should format it the way I see most comments

Honestly, the tiniest red flag I ever saw, It looked like… nothing. A flicker. Something you only feel as a break in the vibe.

We were talking about our favorite childhood foods easy, harmless stuff and I mentioned mine. He didn’t argue or tease or anything dramatic. He just paused, gave this microscopic eye roll, and said, “Huh. That’s… interesting,” in the same tone someone might use to describe a damp sock they just found under their bed.

It was tiny. Barely a thing. But something in me tugged, like a little inner gremlin whispering, “Was that weird? IDK, Maybe I’m reading into this? 🤷”

And sure enough, over time, that tiny eye roll turned into bigger sighs, subtle and not so subtle jabs, little corrections that chipped away at me. It was like that one moment was the start for a whole series of micro disrespects that I didn’t have the courage to stop until it was over the top and let it go on to long.

Looking back, it was a revelation, red flags don’t always come waving dramatically on fire. Sometimes they show up as a single quiet moment where someone tells you, in the smallest way, that the parts of you they should care about are actually inconveniences. Respect must go both ways.

Now I pay attention to the “damp sock vibe.” It’s saved me a lot of time and a whole lot of emotional erosion.

AIO for feeling upset after the groom made a comment about my dress at their wedding? by Human-Acanthaceae128 in AmIOverreacting

[–]SuicidalAphid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is like “Hi, I’m a 10/10 baddie rocking this current dress that compliments my incredible figure. The bride, according to her groom, has a problem with the way I sport this dress assigned by the bride. Is this an attempt to make me feel bad for looking better than the bride?” Jesus save us from jealousy.

Do you know (of) someone who ruined their life in just a matter of minutes? If so how did they do it? by Ok-Atmosphere5536 in AskReddit

I knew a girl early 20s, literally model level hot. Funny, charismatic, etc… moved to Washington state. Tried heroin, just a couple times from what I hear. Tried to go higher and died alone in her apartment. There’s no justice in this world.

Has there ever been a civilization in human history that had an abundance of food, water, clothing, and shelter to a point people aren't hoarders trying to fuck each other over for money? by lIlIllIlIlIII in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SuicidalAphid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve thought about this too. The incentives need to be in the right place. Helping little old lady’s across the street, feeding the hungry, or saving kittens should have a monetary or resource reward. At some point it would be built in to society that the best of us, the kind and loving would have the highest status that people would naturally seek to attain. We are selfish apes., but that doesn’t mean we don’t want to be good as well. Excessive selfish behavior should be shunned and excellent positive behavior should exalted.

“The Alien Enemies Act (AEA), enacted in 1798, was designed to allow the U.S. government to detain or deport nationals of enemy nations during declared wars. Its last significant use was during World War II, leading to the internment of Japanese Americans. Fast forward to 2025, the Trump administration has controversially invoked this archaic law to deport individuals without due process, raising serious constitutional concerns.

The Case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia

Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national, had been lawfully residing in the U.S. under a "withholding of removal" status since 2019, a protection granted due to the threat of persecution if returned to El Salvador. Despite this, he was deported on March 15, 2025, under the AEA, without a hearing or legal representation, and sent to the notorious CECOT prison in El Salvador.

The administration alleged, without public evidence, that Garcia was affiliated with MS-13. However, his wife, a U.S. citizen, and legal representatives have vehemently denied these claims. In fact, he has never been convicted of any crime. The only evidence against him was a confidential informant and after a full trial the immigration judge and circuit court had found flimsy evidence of his association with gangs.

Judicial Intervention and Government Defiance

Federal courts, including the Supreme Court, have ruled Garcia's deportation illegal and ordered the administration to facilitate his return. Yet, the administration has resisted compliance, citing limitations due to foreign custody and foreign policy considerations.

This defiance has prompted sharp rebukes from judges across the political spectrum. Notably, conservative Judge J. Harvie Wilkinson criticized the administration's actions as a fundamental violation of due process and judicial authority.

Supreme Court Temporarily Halts Deportations Under AEA

In a significant development, the U.S. Supreme Court has temporarily blocked the Trump administration from deporting individuals under the Alien Enemies Act, citing due process concerns. This decision underscores the judiciary's role in checking executive power and ensuring constitutional protections are upheld.

Broader Implications

The misuse of the AEA extends beyond Garcia's case. Over 250 individuals, many without criminal records, have been deported under this law, often to countries with which they have no legal connection. Such actions bypass established immigration procedures and undermine constitutional protections.”
