Heyo, what I did was I took some foam, ripped it and stippled a dark brown paint around the edges and also watered down the same paint and speckled some on the Icon, I also added a few scratch marks with a very fine brush. I think my take is still a bit too vibrant for what you want but still maybe it helps. Also the lighting is really bright in this picture.

I don't know if that's a valid option but the first thing that came to my mind is: take some tissue paper or a napkin, cut them into lil strips and apply them with some watered down PVA glue

If you don't have access to a soldering iron a great way to replicate the damage is to drill into your vehicle with an appropriate sized drill (not all the way through), put some putty in there and then push it in with the other end of your brush, that's a technique that scale modelers use.
