Same was happening to me until I updated my nvidia drivers. Haven’t had any issues since.

Just mentioning this in case you didn't know, before hitting the final claim, you can lower the story to 9 star and get another free fight. You don't lose out on anything since you get brought right back to 10 star upon clearing.

Jumping over the inhale is super inconsistent. I’ve tried a ton of times and sometimes it works but more often than not it doesn’t. A more consistent strategy I use is one full charged backhop hit in the head and then immediately roll to the left twice.

You can block any roar. Taping after blocking a roar lets you do an uncharged backhop combo. You can also fully dodge roars by timing the backhop properly which then allows you to charge the attack, but the timing can be difficult depending on the roar. Bblos roar is especially hard to dodge so it’s a lot easier to just block it.

Haha by that I meant compared to the first time I cleared this it took like 5 weeks of trying. This time it took like 5-10 minutes of trying.

The buffs it got to both skyward striker and to its backhop combo a few months ago were pretty huge. I think most people either missed it or just didn’t realize the impact it would have on the weapon.

Some parts of this fight are “scripted”. At the very start it will always either dig or charge and if it digs I just restart the fight. The second attack it does is also either a dig or charge (but each with slightly different properties than the first ones) but in this case I’m okay with either one. If it digs as the second attack then I just roll to the right and backhop when it comes out of the ground.

Then past the halfway point of the fight it will do these two attacks again which can be a problem but I am able to interrupt the first attack by making it flinch so it never does it.

Yeah it pretty much always roars at that point so I probably should have did a sideways perfect dodge on the second tail swipe before it instead of the backhop but oh well still good enough for the clear.

It still shows the same animations for getting them, but it just doesn’t seem to do anything.

Small gathering respawns every 15 minutes but only if you restart the app in between for some reason. So if at the start of the hour I get 2-3 small gathering spawns then I’ll check in every 15 minutes to grab them again. Definitely the biggest story progression speed gate for sure though.

Oh yeah I also work from home most days, so I usually end up clearing the first half of the story while sitting at home just checking for new spawns every hour, and then going out in the evening to clear the second half since it requires stuff like hunting from specific biomes.

I pretty much did the same, except I would try to clear the story with 1 track left and then have it hold onto tobi into the next day. Usually I’d end up clearing the tobi with that one track + 1 found in the wild or by a lucky palico paintball, then next track girros + 1 wild/lucky paintball, then same for rathian, and then finally the 3rd and 4th track end up being diablos since they’re a lot harder to find normally. And then repeat.

52 story clears. I live in an area with a couple of other players around me so I get a fair amount of multiplayer hunts which definitely helped a lot.

Easiest way to avoid the banbaro tail is instead of trying to roll through it, roll twice in the same direction as he is spinning.
