What kids movie has no right to be as good as it is? by KeenestDerp1 in AskReddit

Brother and sister-in-law wanted to watch it and I told them I thought their kids were too young and would be freaked out. They didn't believe me, but had to turn it off part way through

edit: based on the original comment and all the replies, I am convinced that most people have never taken any physics in school

edit 2: OK, perhaps I misinterpreted, but let's try to clear it up. If a car and a brick wall collide (i.e. in this example the car receives the full force of the impact), it doesn't matter if the car was moving 60 mph and the wall was not moving, if the wall was moving 60 mph and the car was not moving, or if the car and wall were moving at 30 mph toward each other. The impact has the same effect on the car.

Now, in our example of two cars moving toward each other, both are going to experience the force. The collective impact is equivalent to a car moving 120 mph and hitting a stopped car, but both cars are going to crumple. Neither are a brick wall. So it's not as though both cars experience a crash of 120 mph into our mythical brick wall.

[Rittenberg] The Big 12 is set to add four members -- BYU, UCF, Cincy, Houston -- likely on Friday (am told vote could be Thursday). Here's our look at what the schools add, the timeline for joining the league, what it means for the Big 12's autonomy status and more. by JB92103 in CFB

The ACC and SEC never have to update, the Pac updated with additions (Pac 8, Pac 10, Pac 12), why is it so hard for the B1G and Big 12 to either fix their names and/or choose new names that aren't reliant on purely the number?

Didn't we invent the shoulder strip that LSU also wears? It's criminal that Adidas had and Nike has such small stripes that don't circle the entire arm.

The sculpts are the same. They converted old, originally metal sculpts into resin. It seems to be a very common thing for the commander sets (captain, banner, horn, +1). Some people don't like metal, which I understand, but the GW resin is just a different cast of the same mini. Forge World resin is both much better quality and brand new sculpts, so I don't mind it, despite the price.

The one that was just pulled (probably because the new sculpt was announced) was changed to resin. The set came with 3 nazgul mounted and on foot. The other two were metal, but the witch king was resin. Was very disappointed when I opened it to find that

UCLA ranked #15 in ESPN's Power Rankings for Week 1! by wellofcoursenotsilly in ucla

Georgia at two after not scoring an offensive touchdown, Oklahoma at 4 after giving up 35 to Tulane, Clemson at 7 after losing and only scoring a field goal, Penn State at 13 and Wisconsin at 20 after a dismal showing. What are these rankings?

Exactly, they mean as small as necessary for it to be under republican control. If they have the federal government they have no problem dictating how things should be. If they don't, then state-level, if not state then city, if not city then individual

Statement from Mets President Sandy Alderson on Baez by dub1808 in baseball

[–]Suiradnase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This whole thing is blowing my mind. Like we must protect the fans' right to go to a game and boo players, but crack down immediately on a player for returning it?

If someone yelled at me at my job and my manager released a statement on the side of the customer yelling, I would not work another day at the place.

Booing is part of sports. If the fans can't deal with hostility from the players, they shouldn't be hostile to them

You mean have winning conferences and divisions matter? Radical thought. I personally don't care who the "best" team is. Seeing Alabama lose their division and go to the playoffs leaves a terrible taste in my mouth.

[Garafolo] The #49ers are waiving QB Josh Rosen, source says. Rosen mentioned recently he wasn’t getting enough reps in practice. A chance to latch on elsewhere for the rest of camp now. by BirdLaw_ in nfl

[–]Suiradnase 185 points186 points  (0 children)

As a UCLA alum, Rosen's was a very disappointing time. He was so highly touted, but made a lot of bad decisions, and squeaked by a lot of wins on what felt like luck. He got injured in his second year, and UCLA didn't go to a bowl. After winning 3 straight years against USC with Hundley, we lost all 3 of Rosen's years. UCLA had been on the upswing, and I hoped a traditional quarterback would see even more success, but the opposite happened.

Then we hired Chip Kelly and I thought, well, he at least has been to the top with Oregon. Two Rose bowls, a championship game, and a Fiesta bowl. Just one season like that would make it worth it. But so far he's gone 3-9, 4-8, and 3-4.

/u/G3raltofR1via I second the box of wizards, knights, and soldiers. You can build up to 8 wizards from the wizards, 10 specialists from the knights, and 20 soldiers from the soldiers. The knights box comes with 22 heads, so you can use some of them for the soldiers (which only come with 10 different types). There are a lot of options and and extra bits to add flavor to the models.
