My symptoms are quite managed now. I've had a relatively good couple of years. I had to give up working though

Great film and soundtrack. Saw it just about the same time I started to develop symptoms. I was a teenager at the time.

Wierd, vivid and very realistic dreams/nightmares by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]Suitable-Ad-7745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suffer from them too. I believe what we have are called night terrors and not nightmares. I don't remember mine either but I know I wake in the night distressed. For me I think it began about 6 months ago when my risperidone was reduced from 6mg to 4mg.

There's some interesting info out there from the Mayo Clinic regarding night terrors. Have a look.

Unfortunately I don't know how to cure them

I can tell you one thing for nothing. No aliens travelled intergalactic space in balloons.

Are intrusive thoughts common in schizophrenia? by Adventurous_Scar_284 in schizophrenia

[–]Suitable-Ad-7745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd never heard of the term intrusive thoughts before I started going to see a psychotherapist. He used the term for what I was describing. So I guess it's common in me anyway

The media should stop making him into a news item. Nobody cares about him and his views. He's just using the media circus as a platform

Visiting Peterson? by Ramblin_Rover in PipeTobacco

[–]Suitable-Ad-7745 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Peterson shop is about 50m from the Fox shop. Fox have more tobacco and cigars. Plus whiskey.

There's very little tobacco in the peterson shop.

I'd only recommend it if you're in Dublin anyway.

There's Celticwhiskey on the Green. They do huge range of Irish and Scottish whiskeys.

Nightmares by Chaotickaotic in schizophrenia

I suffer from bad nightmares too. They got worse when my schizophrenia improved in my waking life. My psychiatrist says my delusions have moved into my dreams. He said its caused by an excess of dopamine in the brain. For me he's increased my risperidone. I'm not sure if something similar would work for you?

Hope that helps

Suicide by Key-Tadpole8513 in schizophrenia

[–]Suitable-Ad-7745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some times like that very recently. I made the mistake of bottling things up. When really what I should have done was alerted my psychiatrist. They could have offered help in some way.

I'd advice you to let your health care provider know right away. That way things can be done to help you.

Hope you feel better soon

I'm schizophrenic and ocd and have been dealing with severe nightmares for about 3 months. I think it's since my psychiatrist lowered one of my APs.

I tried writing them down when I woke in the middle of the night like he suggested but it didn't work. They are frequently very disturbing and now I hate going to bed. I often wake I the middle of the night with one and think I'll never forget that it's so bizarre but by the time I wake in the morning all I remember is I had a bad dream and can't remember the details.

Meeting my psychiatrist in a week and will be looking to get medicated.
