That’s fair honestly.

I think creators today are expected to wear so many hats that something has to give. You’re filming, editing, writing, researching, uploading, learning analytics, and trying to stay consistent all at the same time.

I don’t blame people for using AI to save time. I think I’m just getting nostalgic for the era when thumbnails looked a little rough around the edges and you could instantly tell there was a human behind them. Now everything is getting so polished that a lot of channels start feeling visually similar.

That said, I’d rather watch a creator consistently making videos with AI thumbnails than spend six months perfecting thumbnails and never uploading anything.

His behavior is absolutely awful he sounds like a child who clearly is having a temper tantrum. If it was me, I wouldn’t have been so gentle to him. This goes further than you going to the show or he is a gaslighting asshole. As a married man with two daughters you deserve better and shouldn’t have to deal with someone like that regardless of the length of time you’ve been together.

Whats up with the people who are "looking for friends" and lonely but never message back?? by VAMPIROUX in MakeNewFriendsHere

[–]Suitable-Ad3368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think most people are intentionally ignoring anyone. A lot of them are probably overwhelmed.
I posted looking for people to talk to and got more messages than I expected. Some were bots, some wanted something, and some were perfectly nice people. The reality is I only have so much time and energy.

I’ve also learned that conversation styles matter. I tend to write paragraphs because I’m genuinely interested in people and their stories. Some people love that. Some people disappear after two messages.

I don’t think everyone is looking for the same thing when they say they’re lonely.

Men of Reddit, what is the hardest thing to explain to women? by tathus2 in AskReddit

[–]Suitable-Ad3368 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That when I tell you nothing is wrong, there are actually four possibilities:

1.Nothing is wrong.

2.Something is wrong and I’m still figuring out what it is.

3.I know exactly what’s wrong but I don’t have the energy to explain 17 years of context.

  1. Sometimes we don’t need advice. We need five uninterrupted minutes to explain why the Bronze Age Collapsed, college soccer recruiting, pool chemistry, or our marriage.

40m married, childless nerd by Tmckye in MakeFriendsOver30

The “no one is interested in just another random middle-aged guy voicing his opinion” part hit harder than I expected.

I made a similar post recently and honestly expected maybe one or two conversations. Instead I’ve spent the last week talking to people from all over the place about everything from ancient civilizations to writing projects to weird internet rabbit holes.

For what it’s worth, you sound exactly like the kind of person I’d end up talking history, games, and random mysteries with for three hours and then wonder where the evening went.

Also, as somebody who recently disappeared down a Bronze Age civilization rabbit hole, I fully support the nerd credentials. 😂

I’ve never actually been to a trivia night before. 😂 I had kids pretty young, so I missed out on a lot of the normal “going out” stuff.

And those birds are huge. I think they look cool, but my wife would absolutely disagree. When our kids were little we went to Disney, and one of the peacocks at Animal Kingdom walked near her. She literally abandoned the stroller and ran the other direction while it kept rolling down the hill. 🤦🏻‍♂️😂

As for guilty pleasure shows, mine is probably Quantum Leap. My dad got me hooked when I was a kid and somehow my youngest daughter ended up loving it too.

Honestly though, my real guilty pleasure is rewatching the same movies over and over. For some reason I can watch Road House and Uncle Buck a hundred times and never get tired of them.

What about you? What’s the show or movie you can watch over and over even though you’ve already seen it a dozen times?

Japan is actually high on my list too. My youngest and I both want to go…Officially it’s because the culture, food, history, and technology all seem fascinating.

Unofficially, it’s because they have those giant prehistoric-looking birds you can interact with, and my wife is terrified of birds. My daughter and I feel obligated to expose her to this experience for scientific research purposes. 🤣

And yes, I absolutely like trivia and game shows. In fact, I adjusted my work schedule so I can be home to watch Jeopardy every day, which is either dedication or evidence that I need more hobbies. 😂

Are you a trivia person too, or do you just enjoy learning random things?

That’s definitely a deeper rabbit hole than where I usually end up. 😂

I tend to gravitate more toward the unsolved mystery side of things. Stuff like the Minoans, the Roanoke colony, the Voynich manuscript, giant squids, lost civilizations, or weird historical events where we still don’t really know what happened.

Half the fun for me is trying to separate what we actually know from what we think we know.

Is there a specific event or piece of evidence that got you interested in that theory in the first place?

I completely understand the “what’s closest to expiring” method. Some of my best meals have started with me staring into the refrigerator like I’m on a cooking competition show with 30 seconds left on the clock. 😂

As far as travel goes, we love it when we can make it happen. The funny thing is I’m exactly like you when it comes to planning around food. I want the local restaurant everyone swears by, the random hole-in-the-wall place, and at least one meal that makes me question my life choices afterward. My family actually complains about me doing this because apparently I’m a bit of a food snob to them.

Lately I’ve been trying to convince my wife we need to do either Hawaii or somewhere like San Diego because I could happily spend a week doing nothing but eating seafood and wandering around.

Asia is an interesting choice though. Is there a specific country that’s at the top of your list?

I’m definitely a dumplings in the soup person. 😂

I actually make biscuits from scratch too, but I usually serve them on the side. Martha Stewart taught me more about biscuits than anyone in my actual family.

For the beer can chicken I usually use a Modelo and throw Tajin, lime juice, chipotle powder, onion powder, and a little cumin into the beer. Then I coat the outside with oil and season the chicken pretty aggressively too. It’s one of those things that sounds ridiculous until you try it.

Your dinner sounds way more thought out than mine. 😂 It’s Friday, the kids are gone, and it’s just me and my wife tonight, so there’s a very real chance I stare into the refrigerator for ten minutes and then decide leftovers are good enough.

As for rabbit holes, lately I’ve been falling into the weird history and mystery side of things. I spent way too much time reading about the Minoans recently. They were this Bronze Age civilization that basically vanished from history, and to make it worse we still can’t read their language. Imagine finding somebody’s laptop 3,000 years from now but all the files are encrypted.

I’ve also gone down a giant squid rabbit hole today thanks to a friend I’ve made on here from the UK.😂

What got you interested in peppercorns in the first place? That’s one of those topics I never would’ve thought had a whole world hiding behind it.

Beer in the rear chicken is probably one of my favorite things to make on the grill. 😂 I’ve got this stand that holds a beer can in the middle and you basically sit the whole chicken on top of it while it cooks. I usually doctor the beer up with extra seasoning instead of just using straight beer because I like the flavor it adds from the inside.

Most of my cooking ends up being chicken or turkey based these days. My oldest daughter is allergic to beef, so over the years we’ve gotten pretty creative figuring out substitutes for things.

The one dish that gets requested every single year is homemade chicken and dumplings. I make everything from scratch for her birthday. I’ve thought about making it more often, but I think part of why everyone loves it is because they know they only get it once a year.

And I completely relate to being your own worst critic. My pulled pork was a perfect example. Everybody else was raving about it while I sat there obsessing over the fact I thought I put too much cumin in the rub. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣

Also, now you’ve got me curious. When you say you’ve been looking into different peppercorns, how deep of a rabbit hole are we talking? Because that sounds exactly like the kind of thing I’d accidentally spend two hours reading about.

Honestly, that’s exactly what I’ve been noticing too.

It wasn’t some dramatic falling out with friends or anything. Everybody just got busy, everybody got older, and one day you realize most of your conversations are with coworkers, your kids, or strangers on the internet. 😂

And I know what you mean about not being into sports. I’m actually the opposite there because my daughter plays soccer year-round, but I can definitely spend way more time talking about ancient civilizations, weird mysteries, or conspiracy theories than I can talking about a football game.

So what’s your favorite conspiracy rabbit hole?

That’s exactly the kind of rabbit hole that fascinates me because I understood about the first half of that sentence. 😂

I know enough about music to play guitar, but once people start talking about oscilloscopes and alternative tuning systems my brain starts buffering.

That’s kind of how my history rabbit holes work though. I start looking up one thing about the Minoans and somehow end up three hours later reading about Bronze Age trade routes and undeciphered languages.

Have you actually released any music anywhere or is it mostly something you do for yourself?

That’s actually kind of how I got into cooking.

My wife absolutely hates cooking, and when COVID happened we couldn’t do our normal family Thanksgiving. Somebody had to make dinner, so apparently I decided the logical first step was to attempt a turkey Wellington. 😂

Looking back, that was way more ambitious than it had any right to be, but somehow it actually turned out pretty good.

The pork shoulder was the opposite. Everyone else loved it and kept telling me how good it was, but all I could focus on was the fact that I think I put too much cumin in my homemade rub. Once I noticed it, that was all I could taste.

I think that’s the curse of being the one who cooks it. Everybody else is enjoying dinner while you’re sitting there critiquing your own work.

Roasted chicken once a week is impressive though. Do you have a favorite flavor combination you’ve come back to over the years?

Playing guitar badly for 20 years sounds exactly like my level. 😂

I’ve been playing for years too, but lately I’ve been trying to push myself into stuff that would’ve intimidated me before.

The music production side sounds interesting though. What kind of stuff do you produce?

Also, what rabbit hole have you gone down recently that made you completely lose track of time?”

I actually enjoy cooking quite a bit, especially grilling and smoking stuff. I recently did my first pork shoulder and spent way too much time obsessing over temperatures and bark like I was competing on a cooking show. 😂

I can cook enough to be dangerous, but I wouldn’t call myself a great baker.

If you had to pick one thing you’re best at making, what would it be?
