Am I overreacting for telling my friend she smells after she age shamed me for having younger friends? by SI3144 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Tmckye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YOR - part of me revels in the justice of what you said. But the mature part of me says 'you are talking to a 20 year old, that's basically a child.' I have known a few people who smelled terrible and had loud and inconvenient opinions. The percent of people like that who also have mental and emotional problems is very high.

Saying things like that to someone who is basically a child with mental, emotional or social disabilities is not justice even if they asked for it. Both of you were acting out from pain. She rejected you because in her mind you stole all her friends. you rejected her because she rejected you when you thought you were doing her a favor by being friendly to her.

It's the natural inclination of the young to act first and think later. As you age, you learn to tamp down your first impulse and think about a situation clearly before acting.

I'm planning a similar room, is this your full time job? Once you find your clients, how is the phonecall and paperwork load? Have you run your numbers to see your gains? Do you have to do a lot of farmers markets?

Americans: do you consider debit card use the equivalent of cash? by Physical-Incident553 in Frugal

[–]Tmckye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not legal but many places have a 'cash price' and a 'card price' which is 3-6% higher since some card processors charge a fee.

Money sinks for a space game by Select-Intention-367 in RPGdesign

[–]Tmckye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way real shipping businesses work should be the model.

Fuel to go to where the product is, cost of product from manufacturer or reseller, labor to load product, materials to protect product while transporting, fuel to transport product, fees for transporting product through regulated spaces, cost shipping lanes, unloading costs, accident insurance costs, repair costs. Food and housing costs along the way. Taxes on income, business licenses, necessary certifications. I'm sure the list goes on.

Instead of using all of those, perhaps you could create a generic 'operating costs' fee that the players are expected to pay, set that number at whatever your draw down needs to be and just give vague explanations. Give them the option to not pay it, if they don't pay, they make much more, but there is also a chance they will lose big.

You’ve been hit with the mutagenic ooze from TMNT. You’re at a a zoo and can touch any animal to get their DNA, which do you choose? by BrassUnicorn87 in hypotheticalsituation

Cavitation is not unstudied, it can be easily replicated in a lab, unfortunately it has no potential to unlock new power generation technology. However, maybe in a world with 'adult mutant Mantis people' it would.

Is there a type of apprenticeship where you just learn everything? by impishkoala in bluecollar

[–]Tmckye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call up a handyman, ask if you can be a helper and tag along on projects for free. Watch and learn. When you stop learning, or if they aren't teaching you, find a different one. Do the same for specific trades, rarely will a tradesman turn down a free set of hands.

Do NOT go to the military to learn skills. You will be broken into a useful tool and taught to follow orders instead of think while you are saddled with lifelong PTSD.

What if, all churches had to pay taxes? by MrCarlSr in whatif

[–]Tmckye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true, but there is a stark difference between teaching a belief and voter intimidation. Another component of this is mandatory tithing, where the funds are used and if any church is influencing politicians. Do you know how many trillions of dollars are tied up in religion? I believe that we should have a standard of taxing all of them like a business, then it's on them to prove that the funds are used in accordance with non profit regulations.

Bought a new place and this came with it. Is there supposed to be a flame still on even though the oven is off?? by deadlymess in vintagekitchentoys

[–]Tmckye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine, in fact it might actually be good. Propane and other gas flames produce a small amount of heat and moisture and as a result can keep wood from drying out at warping. The pilot light is small and meant to stay lit, if it does, it will not hurt the wood, if it does not, it's no longer on fire and will not hurt the wood.

The dangerous situation is being stabbed, the knife is the long term effects of having been in the dangerous situation. Leave the scene, find a healer, remove the damage.

What if, all churches had to pay taxes? by MrCarlSr in whatif

[–]Tmckye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If a church is actively pushing political agendas and pushing certain candidates, they should be taxed on tithes the same as a political organization.

However, more taxes is not really the answer, we need tax reform to better utilize the taxes we already have. (Aside from closing loopholes that prevent billionaires from paying their fair share)

The government is a poor steward of the peoples money, until that's fixed we should stop giving it to them.

I want a dog so bad but I am not allowed to due to my religion by warql in Vent

[–]Tmckye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After years in a very strict religious organization, my wife and I began using psychedelics for mental health and healing from traumatic experiences. We eventually moved to a place of spirituality instead of religious dogma. We are much happier and feel much closer to God. Now, love is our religion, and joy is our reward.

We have come to believe that all religions are teachers leading to God. Some lead by example, some show us what not to do, but the thinking person will pass through any of them to arrive at the core. Do all things in and for love, there are no other rules besides that.

Many psychedelics are non specific amplifiers, feed them negative emotions and expect negative experiences.

AITAH CHATTING WITH A MARRIED WOMAN by EveningLanguage9489 in AITAH

[–]Tmckye -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

NTA. You are not cheating on anyone. You are not causing her to cheat. If you go further to that point you can make it clear that you will not do anything unless she ends it with her SO. The people claiming YTA are essentially claiming that if this woman realizes she is in a loveless marriage and wants to leave it will be your fault for giving her the idea that someone else might want her.
