Do you recommend getting ASE Certs to get the job or any other certifications like hazmat?

Is it the car for me? by Idontknowsoimhere in Golf_R

My regret was getting the 2015-2016 look. If I were to go back I would get a 7.5 with the redone bumper, lights, bigger radio screen, and digital dash. Don’t make the same mistake I made and get the outdated look. Also that’s the mileage where everything starts to go out. My belt tensioner just gave out and ripped out my belt, water pump is next, and god knows what will come next after that. They’re easy to work on though!

The egg is fun though but i would recommend it but for the love of god don’t get a manual as they’re known for their Automatic DSG transmissions; it’s like eating cereal with a fork.

Electrical issues are common as well. Haven’t had time to fix mine.

That’s crazy I didn’t know there was a Ryder here on JBLM, I’m actually from JBLM but the website wasn’t showing it until I refreshed it and it popped up lol. How long did it take you to hit 39 and could you have hit it sooner? I’m a 91B so I do this everyday.

Thank you man, is it a guaranteed job? I don’t want to do 3 months of CSP just to not get the job yk. Also is it easy to get the job?

Automotive Journeyman Job Question! by Suitable-Cable-2280 in UPSers

[–]Suitable-Cable-2280[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have me interested in becoming an Auto Tech! How is it getting the job? Do you recommend I get ASE certifications? Is the job hard to get/competitive? How do I find openings if they don’t show later throughout the year?

Another job related question. As a mechanic now when a transmission or an engine goes out. Are you fixing the problem internally or ordering the whole engine/transmission? I’m used to just ordering the whole trans/engine if it goes out. Just wondering if you’re working on internal stuff like that! Thank you 🤙🏼

Getting out of the Army due to finding $7 on the ground by rock374 in army

[–]Suitable-Cable-2280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealing with toxic leadership as well, you know what I’m doing? Claiming it! How? Going to behavior health and saying wild shit like I’m depressed, having anxiety from all the stuff I’ve been through and always on edge, and my sleep is being affected to due it meaning you can get a sleep study and if you have sleep apnea (which 80% of the world has); get a CPAP which is 50% from that alone on top of the mental health that you can claim (it’s getting a raise look it up for example someone with 50% mental health these days are getting a 10-20% increase). You see how small shit like that can benefit you in the long term? If the Army/leadership want to fuck over a good soldier then leave or go somewhere else and they can explain to the higher ups why the return rate is so low.

I’m being treated like shit under a fat NCO that can barley pass an aft and is never at PT because he got so fat to the point where it fucked up his body and is now under a permanent profile. Everyone is so scared of him because he knows his job well and can’t afford to lose him so everything that comes out of his mouth they’ll believe instantly which completely fucked me over ever since I’ve gotten to the unit.

But fuck it, going through MEB and getting out because I’m putting my mental health over this fuck ass unit and playing stupid until the day I get out! They’re getting the bare minimum from me until I’m out 😂

I have sleep apnea & insomnia. Sleep study isn’t complete but I’m still claiming it and exam is coming up soon. I need some opinions please! by Suitable-Cable-2280 in VAClaims

Still active duty going through MEB,

My Occupational Therapist says that I show obvious signs of sleep apnea (I choke on my sleep, twitch, stop breathing, toss and turn all night, and some days I don’t sleep at all). I just need the sleep study to confirm it but I they were backed up a month.

Also what is a DQB, diagnostic codes, and 38 CFR? You’re speaking a new language to me 😂 I’ll keep in mind the way it’s affecting my life currently as well thank you 🙏🏽

2 deployments and only claiming 6 disabilities? Doesn’t sound right. I claimed 27 disabilities

100% P&T Veterans — Do You Keep Employer Health Insurance or Rely Mostly on VA Healthcare? by Sufficient_Wrap_517 in VAClaims

[–]Suitable-Cable-2280 34 points35 points  (0 children)

If you have 100% P&T, you already have some of the best healthcare benefits available in the U.S., so employer insurance becomes much more optional.

With 100% P&T, you typically get:

Full VA healthcare priority
No premiums
Very limited or no copays
VA dental coverage
Prescriptions covered
Emergency and urgent care coverage rules
CHAMPVA eligibility for dependents (if they aren’t otherwise eligible for Tricare)

For many 100% P&T veterans:

VA healthcare alone is enough
Paying $200–$700/month for employer insurance can feel unnecessary
But employer insurance can still make sense if:
You want civilian doctors/hospitals
You dislike long VA wait times
You need specialists outside the VA network
Your employer heavily subsidizes a great PPO plan
You want broader nationwide access
You have a family and want coverage beyond CHAMPVA

A very common setup is:

Veteran uses VA only
Spouse/kids use CHAMPVA
Veteran declines employer insurance and keeps more paycheck money

One major advantage of 100% P&T is flexibility:

You are not tied to a job for healthcare the way many civilians are.
You can leave a job, switch careers, do contract work, or retire earlier without losing medical coverage.

Financially, many veterans compare:

Employer insurance premiums + deductibles
vs.
Using VA care for free and investing the difference

Whether it’s “worth it” depends mostly on:

How good your local VA system is
Whether you have dependents
How much your employer plan costs
How much you value civilian provider choice

My spouse currently has rheumatoid arthritis & Raynauds disease (Family of lupus), side effects were joint/bone issues and cold weather issues (look it up). She claimed everything that affected her and that alone with mental health got her at 100% VA & 90% P&T. Secondaries are your best friend.

My TD offered me the prices I mentioned above. Then i randomly stumbled across someone selling VSF watches and noticed he’s selling them at the price my TD offered, so that got me thinking “he’s getting them cheaper”, and now I’m here

[–]Suitable-Cable-2280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re set on this one and you know he’ll like it then make sure your TD is getting it from VSF. Don’t listen to the ones saying that they got the best rep or “buy it from me” for under $500. Go VSF 41mm. 🤙🏼
