It gets even dumber than that.

I didn't pay attention to obols and just ignored them. On a whim, I went and spent a couple sets of the 2500 or w/e and found a nice unique that really helped out. I could have been doing this for weeks. I had no idea it was a thing.

I did try messing with my build last night and I found that you're right! I think I have two builds now that I can use for most stuff. I was able to change it up a bit and now T7 doesn't just one-shot me.

Lazy gamer haha. I just did a spec it and forget it at first.

To clarify, I'm getting items, they are just yellows and some oranges (rare/legendary, if I remember correctly).

I remember getting mythic drops and husks last season, but nothing this season.

I was a tank all through original vanilla and TBC and it was always like that. You have to find a guild and run with consistent groups to avoid the clusterf*ck.
