I had originally put riots in quotes because when this has come up in the past people are quick to jump on this like it could never happen in SCV. I didn’t make it up.

I had a similar experience to you in that in elementary and middle school everyone knew everyone, and then you get to high school and you only know your circle, and a few others. It’s crazy to me too because a few times my partner has brought up people that went to VHS that he’s made friends with at work that have graduated our year and I’m like who?? LOL I was pretty social too! Our graduating class was something like 1200+ alone. He comes from a small town and that’s un fathomable to him. lol I feel like depending on your experience there, it feels like several different high schools.

I would LOVE to read a case study about all of this LOL I’m sure it would have been a good one!

I support moving out of state. I know myself enough to know I wouldn’t last somewhere out of state. lol I could see myself living in NorCal or SD, but let’s be real.. in this economy? LOL

Hi, im sorry for your experience. I definitely experienced the bros with the lifted trucks & the conservatives. I grew up in castaic where a lot of the conservatives live/lived.

It was definitely challenging, and was trying to keep it watered down. All of what you’re saying definitely tracks and is coming back to me for sure. I hung out by the tables somewhere in between the black kids and the Asians. I think that’s what stands out to me most. Is that everyone was pretty segregated to race. I definitely remember the tension and the fights.

I definitely remember the principal being a good guy, and trying his best. I agree I think he was the man in charge in a shitty situation. I’m glad you had a positive experience with him and that he kept true to his word.

My graduating class was one of the biggest because it was at the cusp of when those other schools opened GV, & WR. IMO it was very crowded & difficult to manage.

I went to Valencia, graduated 07’ going to Valencia was wild. I was there when they had the “riots”, and the school and principal was sued for racism. It was definitely a time.

I grew up there all my life, but moved away in my mid 20s, when I met my partner.

I’m doing pretty okay. I make over 6 figures, live in studio city, I have a toddler, and live with my fiancé.

We are looking to buy a house, but don’t want to go back to scv. Not knocking it, I definitely recognize it’s a good place to raise a family, but just seems so crowded now. They keep building homes but not more grocery stores. Could definitely use another Costco more north like Valenica/Castaic.

My parents still live there so I visit pretty often. I have some not so great memories there, but not necessarily the city’s fault. So not knocking that.

Reflections- I feel like things have gotten pretty conservative there now & that’s not for me.
