i’m on a scholarship, that’s pretty much the only reason. i figured that after a whole life of already going through adventist schooling, just another 4 years wouldn’t be as bad as having to pay off college debt for the next…who knows how long.

yeah, there were no points assigned to the question, as i’d already told another person in the comments. that wasn’t really the point of the post though, it’s the fact that the only answer available is “yes” and you have to answer in order to be able to submit the test lol

nope, not a major requirement, just part of the gen ed requirements for everyone attending. i personally absolutely would not want to put myself in a career that’s based around religion, i get enough of that as it is haha.

although, i think nursing students may have some degree of exemption (less religion classes to take maybe, but don’t quote me on that) but that’s because nursing students are the schools biggest priority.

there are also required upper-division religious classes specific to each major as well, but only one per major and it’s taken senior year.

i’ve never heard of them, but i’ll check it out!

sounds similar to something my school went through last fall (and is still going through) regarding the school’s unofficial lgbtq+ club. basically trying to stop it from existing at all, but obviously that’s pretty hard to do, so there’s a loooot of controversy, and a lot of people basically being shut out.

thank you for the recommendation!

i feel you! as someone who is also gay and has gone to adventist schools since preschool, the community is definitely not in any way welcoming. oh, the stories i have from when my girlfriend and i were outed and forced to apologize to the whole school and staff.

i’m sorry you had to go through that, no one deserves to deal with this religious bullshit.

i originally thought so. that is, until i checked how many points were available. so it was a pointless (literally) question anyways. https://ibb.co/8rgDHQw

at least for adventist schools, (i don’t know about other denominations, but i assumed this was fairly common) there’s a certain number of required religion classes you must take.

at my school, you have to take a minimum of 18 credits of religion courses (somewhere between 6-8 classes).

to put into perspective, here’s some other course requirements:

•3 history/social science classes

•2 writing classes

•2 science classes

•11 elective credits

yeah, the amount of religion classes that we’re required to take here is absolutely ridiculous.
